Job Summary:
This role oversees the full spectrum of procurement activities to ensure smooth and cost-effective operations in a high-mix precision manufacturing environment. The Procurement Manager plays a key role in strategic sourcing, capacity planning, production scheduling, and supplier performance — supporting Tonasco’s growth in advanced machining for high-tech industries.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Planning & Scheduling
- Lead end-to-end production planning for in-house and outsourced jobs to ensure timely delivery and optimal capacity utilization.
- Monitor job releases and work order prioritization based on customer deadlines and available resources.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, and Quality teams to align delivery timelines and order specifications.
- Lead cross-department team members to manage workload surges and expedite manpower/material planning to support scaling operations.
2. Strategic Procurement & Supplier Management
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies and a procurement framework to ensure a sustainable and scalable system.
- Build and maintain a robust network of reliable direct machining sub-suppliers, as well as vendors for materials, treatments, standard components, and tooling.
- Drive continuous improvement in supplier performance—focusing on cost, quality, and delivery—through structured reviews and KPI tracking.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering to optimize costing and identify cost-down opportunities for both in-house production and outsourced processes.
3. Logistics & Warehousing Coordination
- Coordinate with the Logistics Team to manage shipping arrangements, import/export documentation, and monitor freight vendor performance.
- Oversee and track inventory levels, both at physical storage locations and within the ERP system.
- Identify and implement logistics cost-saving initiatives without compromising delivery reliability or operational efficiency.
4. Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Lead and manage the Procurement, Planning and Logistics team to achieve departmental KPIs.
- Improve internal processes of the department by utilizing our advanced ERP system.
- Champion the use of ERP, MRP, and digital tools to streamline planning and procurement processes.
- Support ISO compliance and maintain accurate planning/procurement documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or a related field. MBA is an advantage.
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant procurement and supply chain management in manufacturing or engineering industry, with 2 – 3 years of managerial experience in similar position.
- Proven track record in procurement, supplier development or production planning.
- Proficiency in English and multilingual capabilities are essential for effective communication with vendors from diverse backgrounds and countries, such as local machining vendors.
