Job Description

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • 2D & 3D Design and Modeling
  • Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings of progressive dies and tooling for IHS & Stiffeners, and related precision components using SolidWorks.
  • Produce production-ready drawings with complete GD&T, surface finish, plating, and critical characteristic identification.
  • Manufacturing Process Planning
  • Analyze customer-supplied 2D/3D models and specifications.
  • Develop optimal progressive forming process flow, layout, and pitch sequence to achieve design compliance with minimum material waste.
  • Progressive Die & Tooling Design
  • Perform full 3D/2D design of progressive forming dies (punch, die block, stripper, pilots, lifters, nitrogen springs, etc.).
  • Design auxiliary tooling and fixtures (CNC machining jigs, inspection gauges, plating masks, etc.).
  • Generate complete manufacturing drawings for all die components in accordance with internal standards.
  • Tolerance Analysis & DFM/DFA
  • Conduct thorough Design for Manufacturing/Assembly reviews on customer designs and propose improvements.
  • Perform tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure final formed parts meet thermal flatness and coplanarity requirements.
  • Predict and compensate for spring-back, thinning, and warpage during forming stages.
  • Forming Simulation & Validation
  • Perform or coordinate metal forming simulations (FEA) using Simufact or equivalent software to predict and mitigate potential defects, including cracking, wrinkling, excessive thinning, spring-back and other formability issues.
  • Validate simulation accuracy against actual try-out results and implement effective corrective actions to optimize die design.
  • Tooling Trial Support & Optimization
  • Provide on-site or remote support during die assembly, first-article try-out, and mass-production debugging.
  • Propose and implement die modifications to improve part quality, cycle time, and die life.
  • Documentation & Data Management
  • Manage all CAD files, drawings, simulation reports, and technical documents in the company’s PDM/PLM system.
  • Maintain revision control and ensure traceability of all design changes (ECN process).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with tooling vendors, material suppliers, plating houses, and internal production/QA teams to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
  • Participate in regular project review meetings and provide timely technical updates.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM4,200.00 per month
