About the role
The Associate Manager, Packaging Development will oversee packaging development, cost improvement as well as process improvement programs.
Key Responsibilities: -
- Preparation of Packaging Material Specifications, STP, Evaluation & Development Report.
- Development of primary and secondary packaging materials.
- Reverse engineering & evaluation of Innovator and competitor’s product packaging.
- Development of Trade Dress, Prototypes & dummy samples and seeking BD / Marketing approval.
- Coordinate with CFTs like R&D, Technology Transfer, manufacturing plant, marketing & BD teams to finalize trade-dress / pack design for each market.
- Identify and implement opportunities for packaging standardization and automation in order to improve process as well as cost savings.
- Preparation and review of Master Packaging Cards.
- Preparation and review of specifications and STPs for primary and secondary packing materials.
- Preparation and review of all packaging development SOPs.
- Identification, development, and evaluation of cost-effective packaging solutions.
- Evaluation of packaging materials and execution of trials.
- Review of batch packing records (BPRs).
- Attending project meetings and supporting for execution of projects in given timelines.
- Supporting to cross functional teams to achieve the project timelines.
- Investigations related to packaging (development and operation) issues.
- Conducting batches at CMOs.
- Support to CFTs in identification of packaging machines suppliers/Manufacturers.
- Support to CFTs in identifying suppliers/manufacturers of packaging materials.
- Auditing of supplier/manufacturer sites, if required.
- Monitoring of Artwork activities for product filings and new launches.
- Review of artworks and ensuring the approved artworks feasibility with respect to operations.
- Change part development for new products with vendor. Change part layout review and approvals.
- Support to production for change part qualification.
- Review and approval of standard specimens & Shade cards.
- Preparation and review of PCT (Pallet Configuration of Tertiary Packing).
- Manage a portfolio of continuous improvement projects.
- Any other ad hoc tasks assigned by the management.
About you
- Must possess a Degree in Pharmacy, Packaging, Technology Transfer or equivalent. Having Masters, MBA or PHD would be considered a vital asset.
- Minimum 5 years’ related experience from Pharma, FMCG, and Healthcare industries.
- Has knowledge of pharma packaging requirements and cGMP requirements.
- Has relevant experience with troubleshooting and packaging improvements along with cost saving approach.
- Understanding of Pharma packaging components, packaging process, packaging equipment and packaging analytical testing.
- Proficient in Project Management Methodologies is an advantage.
- Strong intrapreneurial skills and mindset from start up to established organization.
- Possess knowledge on legal and regulatory framework for IPRs, licencing, marketing technologies, etc.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficient in using technology transfer and packaging systems / software / tools relevant to pharmaceutical or healthcare industry etc.
