Responsibilities
I am seeking a lead mechanical engineer for our client to work in Singapore, a leading data centre operator, growing quickly. They have substantial funding to build large projects. They are using state of the art technology.
My client is seeking a seasoned and visionary Mechanical expert to lead the engineering excellence of our data center projects. In this role, you will be the driving force behind the design, innovation, and technical execution of their mission-critical HVAC systems
.
**Key Responsibilities
**
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of HVAC design for large-scale data center projects, from conceptual planning and scheme definition to detailed design review and construction oversig
ht.- Oversee the technical aspects of procurement for critical HVAC equipment, ensuring all selections meet stringent performance, reliability, and sustainability goa
ls.- Conduct comprehensive feasibility studies during the preliminary planning phase, including capacity planning, reliability modeling, and technical cost analysis to inform project viabili
ty.- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve internal HVAC design standards, technical manuals, and best-practice guidelines, ensuring consistency and quality across all projec
ts.- Lead the research, evaluation, and integration of emerging HVAC technologies, with a specific focus on advanced cooling solutions like liquid cooling, to enhance efficiency and support increasing rack densiti
es.- Champion sustainability by ensuring designs align with green building principles and industry-leading environmental standar
ds.- Ensure design compliance with all relevant national and international standards, including local building codes, TIA-942, and Uptime Institute Tier classificatio
ns.- Provide expert technical support to construction teams, resolving complex engineering challenges and ensuring the practicality and fidelity of on-site implementati
on.- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary and international team, communicating complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders, clients, and partne
rs.
**Qualifications & Experien
ce**
- Holds a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discip
line.- Possesses deep knowledge of the data center industry, including green building standards, national design specifications, TIA-942, and Uptime Tier crit
eria.- Brings at least 8 years of experience in HVAC design management, with a proven track record of independently completing the planning and detailed design for large-scale HVAC sys
tems.- Proficient in system principles, load calculations, and intimately familiar with major components such as chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and air conditioning termi
nals.- Has a strong command of liquid cooling technologies, including hands-on design capability; experience with liquid cooling projects exceeding 10 MW is highly prefe
rred.- Background in developing design rules and standards, managing design teams, or contributing to national or industry standards—whether within a design institute, architectural consulting firm, or data center engineering company—is a distinct advan
tage.- Experience with domestic data centers and large-scale projects is highly va
lued.- Possesses excellent English communication skills, both written and ve
rbal.
