Job Description
- Lead end‑to‑end architecture design for large‑scale .NET smart metering platforms (HES, MDM, device management, OTA, real‑time events)
- Architect highly scalable, secure, and resilient distributed systems handling billions of meter reads and time‑series events daily.
- Define and enforce architectural standards such as microservices, event‑driven design, DDD, CQRS, and .NET 8+ across engineering teams.
- Lead integration architecture for industry metering protocols (DLMS/COSEM, IEC 62056, IDIS, NB‑IoT) and vendor ecosystems (Itron, L&G, Elster)
- Drive cloud transformation on AWS/GCP using Kubernetes/EKS, serverless architectures, and IaC to improve performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Work closely with firmware, hardware, and security teams to deliver compliant meter‑to‑cloud solutions aligned with GDPR, ISO 27001, and IEC 62443
- Mentor senior engineers, conduct architecture reviews, and guide technical evolution through ADRs and continuous improvement initiatives
The Successful Applicant
- Over 10 years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years serving in a .NET architectural or technical leadership capacity.
- At least 3 years of hands‑on work within the smart metering, AMI, or utilities ecosystem, involving platforms such as HES, MDM, VEE, or device‑level integration.
- Strong mastery of the modern .NET ecosystem, including .NET 8/9, C# 12+, ASP.NET Core, EF Core, and Minimal APIs.
- Demonstrated capability in architecting large, event‑driven microservices leveraging technologies like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or NServiceBus.
- Robust cloud architecture background, ideally on AWS, with practical experience in Kubernetes/EKS, serverless services, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Extensive knowledge of metering communication standards such as DLMS/COSEM, IDIS, and NB‑IoT.
- Experience working with high‑volume time‑series data using databases like PostgreSQL or Cassandra, and integrating analytics components.
- Strong security principles, including OAuth2/OIDC, zero‑trust patterns, certificates, and encryption, with bonus value placed on open‑source contributions, IoT/edge exposure, TOGAF certification, or familiarity with the energy market.
