About the role
Iconic Marjorie Hotel, a Tribute Portfolio is seeking an Assistant Human Resources Manager to join our dynamic HR team on a full-time basis in Bayan Lepas, Penang. This is an excellent opportunity to support the delivery of strategic human resources initiatives whilst working in a prestigious hospitality environment. As Assistant Human Resources Manager, you will play a key role in supporting HR operations, employee engagement, recruitment activities, and the development of our talented workforce. You will work collaboratively with the Director of Human Resources to ensure our hotel maintains the highest standards of employee satisfaction and organisational excellence.
Key responsibilities
Assist in the recruitment and selection process, including job advertising, screening of applications, conducting interviews, and coordinating the onboarding of new employees
Support the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programmes that align with company values and legal requirements
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files, contracts, and documentation in compliance with data protection regulations
Assist in the administration of payroll, benefits, and compensation programmes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Support employee relations activities, including handling inquiries, facilitating communication between management and staff, and assisting in the resolution of workplace issues
Coordinate training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills and career progression
Assist in the planning and execution of employee engagement activities, team-building events, and recognition programmes
Support compliance with employment legislation, labour laws, and regulatory requirements relevant to the hospitality sector
Maintain HR databases and systems, generating reports on key HR metrics and analytics
Provide administrative support to the HR department as required
What we're looking for
A qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
Proven experience working in a Human Resources or Generalist HR role, ideally within the hospitality or service industry
Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment legislation, and workplace compliance requirements
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels
Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office applications
Demonstrated organisational skills and attention to detail in managing multiple tasks and priorities
A proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive employee information
Fluency in English; Bahasa Malaysia is advantageous
A genuine passion for supporting employee wellbeing and contributing to a positive workplace culture
