About the role
We are seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join the team at Esram Metals (M) Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Beranang, Selangor. As a Purchasing Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our procurement operations, working alongside the purchasing department to ensure the efficient acquisition of materials and supplies essential to our manufacturing and logistics operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssist the Purchasing Manager/Executive in the end-to-end procurement process, including raising purchase requisitions (PR), issuing purchase orders (PO), and following up on deliveries.
Source and evaluate suppliers for raw materials (scrap metals, aluminium), spare parts, equipment, and consumables based on quality, pricing, and reliability.
Obtain and compare supplier quotations to ensure the best value for the company.
Maintain and update the supplier database, including conducting periodic supplier evaluations and performance reviews.
Coordinate with the warehouse, production, and finance teams to ensure timely fulfilment of material requirements.
Monitor and track outstanding purchase orders, ensuring on-time delivery and resolving any discrepancies or delays.
Process and verify invoices, delivery orders (DO), and goods received notes (GRN) against purchase orders.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date purchasing records, files, and documentation in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
Assist in negotiating pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
Support the team in identifying cost-saving opportunities and process improvements in procurement.
Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, environmental standards (ISO 14001:2015), and regulatory requirements.
Prepare procurement reports and status updates for management as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
A Bachelor's Degree is an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum 1–2 years of working experience in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role.
Experience in the manufacturing, industrial, or metal-related industry is preferred but not mandatory.
Fresh graduates with relevant internship experience are encouraged to apply.
Skills & Attributes
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
Experience with ERP or procurement software (e.g., SAP, AutoCount, SQL Accounting) is an advantage.
Strong numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
Good communication and negotiation skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia; proficiency in Mandarin is an added advantage given the nature of supplier interactions.
Ability to multitask, prioritise workloads, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Proactive, responsible, and able to work independently as well as in a team.
High level of integrity and professional ethics in handling confidential commercial information.
Office-based role at Beranang, Selangor with occasional visits to supplier sites or company facilities.
Standard working hours: Monday to Saturday (as per company policy).
May be required to work overtime during peak procurement periods or production deadlines.
