Job Description

Responsibilities

Position Summary

Templer Nursing Home is seeking a compassionate, responsible, and dedicated Staff Nurse to provide professional nursing care to elderly residents. The Nurse will be responsible for monitoring residents' health conditions, administering medications, coordinating medical care, and ensuring residents receive high-quality, person-centered care in a safe and comfortable environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Nursing Care

  • Provide professional nursing care to residents in accordance with established nursing standards and care plans.
  • Conduct routine health assessments and monitor residents' vital signs and general well-being.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and injections as prescribed by medical practitioners.
  • Monitor and report changes in residents' health conditions to doctors and management.
  • Perform wound care, catheter care, feeding tube care, and other nursing procedures as required.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) when necessary.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to medical emergencies.

Resident Health Management

  • Develop, implement, and review individualized nursing care plans.
  • Coordinate medical appointments, specialist visits, and hospital admissions.
  • Monitor chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, stroke recovery, Parkinson's disease, and dementia.
  • Maintain accurate medical and nursing records for all residents.
  • Ensure residents receive proper nutrition, hydration, and medication management.

Medication Management

  • Prepare, administer, and document medications accurately.
  • Monitor medication stock and expiry dates.
  • Maintain medication administration records (MAR).
  • Report medication errors, adverse reactions, and incidents according to company procedures.

Infection Control & Safety

  • Implement infection prevention and control measures.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Monitor residents for signs of infection and communicable diseases.
  • Participate in risk assessments and fall prevention programs.

Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise nursing assistants, caregivers, and healthcare attendants.
  • Provide guidance and training to care staff on resident care procedures.
  • Ensure care staff follow established care plans and nursing instructions.
  • Participate in shift handovers and multidisciplinary care meetings.

Family & Resident Communication

  • Communicate professionally with residents and their family members.
  • Provide updates regarding residents' health conditions when authorized.
  • Address concerns and enquiries in a caring and professional manner.

Documentation & Administration

  • Maintain accurate nursing documentation and reports.
  • Prepare incident reports and follow-up documentation.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and quality improvement activities.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all resident information.

RequirementsEducation & Professional Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Registered Nurse with a valid Annual Practising Certificate issued by the Nursing Board Malaysia.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 1–3 years of nursing experience preferred.
  • Experience in geriatric care, nursing homes, hospitals, rehabilitation centres, or community healthcare is an advantage.
  • Fresh graduates may be considered for junior positions.

  • Knowledge of elderly care and age-related health conditions.
  • Good medication administration and documentation practices.

  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays if required.

Working Hours

Shift-Based Schedule

  • Morning Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Night Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM

(Subject to operational requirements and roster scheduling.)
