Role Overview

The Senior Operations Executive plays a critical technical and operational role in monitoring, maintaining, and securing the Malaysia Internet Exchange (MyIX) network infrastructure. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful candidate ensures optimal infrastructure performance, strict SLA compliance with service providers, and seamless technical support for members. This role balances rigorous hands-on system administration with vendor management and strategic membership onboarding initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

· Direct Reporting & Updates: Report directly to the General Manager and provide regular, comprehensive operational updates.

· Infrastructure Management: Monitor and maintain the company’s network infrastructure and assets, including equipment inventory, documentation, and related contracts.

· Network Security Operations: Manage and oversee IX backbone and edge network security devices to ensure optimal performance, protection, and governance.

· Operational Reporting: Prepare and submit detailed monthly reports on network traffic utilization, system performance, and operational incidents.

· SLA & Vendor Coordination: Coordinate and follow up with service providers to resolve faulty circuit issues promptly in strict accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

· System Administration: Oversee the maintenance, licensing, and administration of the MyIX website, internal network, servers, domain, and email systems.

· Vendor Engagement: Liaise closely with technology vendors to support planned operational activities and ensure timely, high-quality delivery of services.

· Member Support & Relations: Engage proactively with members on technical matters related to equipment installation, infrastructure upgrades, scheduled maintenance, and direct technical assistance.

· Incident Tracking: Escalate, track, and document operational and network issues systematically to guarantee effective resolution and minimal service disruption.

· Membership Promotion: Assist the General Manager in promoting IX membership benefits and actively supporting outreach, marketing, or onboarding initiatives.

· General Operational Support: Perform any other professional duties or operational assignments as may be dynamically directed by Management from time to time.

Requirements

· Education: Bachelor’s Degree, Postgraduate Diploma, or recognized Professional Qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a strictly relevant technical field.

· Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of progressive, relevant working experience in IT, Network Engineering, or network security operations.

· Core Networking: Strong, practical understanding of network infrastructure, including routing/switching protocols, core hardware, and server administration.

· Security & Governance: Proven hands-on knowledge in Network Security Operations, Security Monitoring & Incident Response, and Compliance & Governance frameworks.

· Industry Context: Prior experience working within an Internet Service Provider (ISP) or Internet Exchange (IX) environment is highly preferred and considered a strong advantage.

· Communications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to draft clear technical reports and executive presentations.

· Interpersonal Attributes: Strong interpersonal skills, a positive professional attitude, collaborative mindset, and an active eagerness to master advanced technologies.

· Autonomy & Flexibility: Capable of working independently with minimal supervision, with the absolute flexibility to perform duties and handle emergencies beyond standard working hours when necessary.

· Mobility: Must possess own transport and maintain full willingness to travel as required for site visits, vendor meetings, or data center maintenance.

· Technical Tools: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis, performance reporting, and stakeholder presentations.

· Nationality: Open to Malaysian citizens only.
