This role requires a hands-on professional who is skilled in the operation and maintenance of hotel systems and equipment, with a particular focus on maintaining the unique historical integrity of the property. The Maintenance Technician ensures all systems are in optimal working order, responding to repairs and preventive maintenance tasks as required.

Main Responsibilities:

1 . General Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repair work on hotel facilities, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and lighting systems.
  • Respond to maintenance requests from staff and guests, including repairing fixtures, replacing parts, and ensuring functionality of guest room and public area amenities.
  • Perform both corrective and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the hotel’s facilities are running efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues related to the hotel's infrastructure, such as air conditioning units, water systems, electrical panels, lighting, plumbing, and other systems that affect guest comfort and safety.

2. Heritage Property Maintenance:

  • Assist in maintaining and repairing the unique features of the heritage building, ensuring that any work done does not compromise the historical integrity of the property.
  • Perform specialized maintenance on heritage elements like vintage fixtures, architectural features, and period-specific materials, following preservation guidelines and best practices.
  • Work closely with senior maintenance staff to ensure any restoration or repair work aligns with heritage preservation requirements.

3. Preventive Maintenance:

  • Conduct regular inspections of hotel systems and equipment, identifying potential issues before they escalate into more significant problems.
  • Follow the hotel’s preventive maintenance schedule, ensuring all areas of the hotel, including guest rooms, kitchens, public areas, and back-of-house spaces, are regularly maintained to high standards.
  • Ensure that all maintenance equipment is properly calibrated and regularly serviced to avoid breakdowns.

4. Emergency Repairs and Response:

  • Respond promptly to emergency repair requests, ensuring minimal disruption to guests and hotel operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve unexpected maintenance issues, including electrical failures, plumbing leaks, HVAC malfunctions, or other urgent issues that impact the guest experience or safety.
  • Assist in emergency response efforts related to safety or infrastructure concerns, such as power outages or fire alarm systems.

5. Coordination with Other Departments:

  • Collaborate with other departments, such as housekeeping and operations, to ensure maintenance issues are promptly addressed and that hotel areas are kept safe and functional for both staff and guests.
  • Work with management to schedule maintenance activities that minimize guest disruption, particularly when dealing with high-traffic areas or peak times.
  • Communicate effectively with the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Execurive and other team members to ensure proper reporting of tasks, repairs, and facility conditions.

6. Health, Safety, and Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety protocols, ensuring all work is performed according to hotel safety standards and local regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining the hotel’s health and safety compliance, particularly related to facility operations, fire prevention systems, and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure that all safety equipment (fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, smoke detectors, etc.) is properly maintained and inspected regularly.

7. Inventory Management and Supplies:

  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies, ensuring that all necessary materials are readily available for repairs and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Report any low stock or needed items to the Maintenance Executive or the Maintenance Manager to ensure supplies are replenished as necessary.

8. Guest Experience Focus:

  • Ensure that any maintenance work conducted within guest areas is done with minimal disruption, maintaining a high level of service and satisfaction.
