Role Summary
The Solution & Delivery Architect owns the technical solution end to end — from shaping the architecture during scoping through to its successful delivery in production. This is a hybrid role that combines deep solution-design expertise with hands-on delivery leadership: defining the right technical approach, then staying engaged to ensure it is built correctly, on time, and to quality standards.
The role sits at the intersection of business stakeholders, delivery teams, and clients, translating requirements into pragmatic, scalable solutions while providing technical governance throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture
- Translate business and functional requirements into well-structured technical solutions and architectures.
- Define solution scope, technology stack, integration patterns, and high-level/low-level designs (HLD/LLD).
- Make and document key architectural decisions, including trade-offs, assumptions, and risks.
- Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements — scalability, performance, security, availability, and maintainability.
- Evaluate build-vs-buy options and recommend appropriate platforms, tools, and frameworks.
Delivery Leadership
- Own technical delivery from design through implementation, testing, and go-live.
- Provide architectural governance and oversight to delivery teams, ensuring the solution stays aligned with the agreed design.
- Identify, track, and mitigate technical risks and dependencies across the delivery lifecycle.
- Drive resolution of complex technical issues that arise during build and deployment.
- Ensure delivery quality through code/design reviews, standards, and best practices.
Stakeholder & Advisory
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for stakeholders and/or clients.
- Support pre-sales, scoping, estimation, and proposal/SOW development with technical input.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Manage stakeholder expectations on scope, feasibility, timelines, and trade-offs.
Team & Governance
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and junior architects.
- Establish and uphold architecture standards, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of delivery processes, tooling, and methodologies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- [7+] years of experience in software/solution delivery, with [3+] years in a solution architecture or technical lead capacity.
- Proven track record designing and delivering complex technical solutions end to end.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms ([AWS / Azure / GCP]) and modern architecture patterns (microservices, APIs, event-driven, integration).
- Experience with delivery methodologies (Agile / Scrum / hybrid) and managing technical delivery within them.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant architecture certifications (e.g., [AWS Solutions Architect], [Azure Architect]).
- Experience in [industry/domain — e.g., enterprise systems integration, financial services, government/defence].
- Background in pre-sales or consulting/professional-services delivery.
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and security best practices.
Core Competencies
- Technical depth & breadth — credible across architecture and hands-on delivery.
- Ownership — accountable for solutions from concept to production.
- Pragmatism — balances ideal design with delivery realities and constraints.
- Communication — bridges business and engineering effectively.
- Leadership — guides teams and influences without always relying on authority.
