A van driver is responsible for transportinggoods from a designated pick-up location to a drop-off location. The itemstransported are varied and can range from furniture and domestic appliances todocuments, parcels and food. Often, the goods are collected from a manufacturerand delivered to a retail outlet or to individuals for private deliveries.

Van driver duties and responsibilities:

Candidates who enjoy driving for long hoursare suited to this role. A van driver often spends long hours on the road, ontheir own, in the vehicle. Below are some of the duties and responsibilities ofa van driver.

·        Collect goods from a manufacturer or warehouse

·        Plan the delivery route in the most efficient way

·        Load the vehicle in a way that ensures that the planned route matchesthe order of deliveries

·        Contact recipients of the delivery while en route to ensure theirpresence

·        Update the tracking system regularly so that customers know when theiritems will be delivered

·        Record daily, weekly and monthly mileage as well as fuel usage

·        Make deliveries, share any associated invoice with recipients and getcustomers’ signatures

·        Update delivery records and return undelivered items
