Job Description

Responsibilities

The Senior Social Worker plays a vital role in a dynamic Social Work Team that facilitates positive change and improves the lives of individuals, families, and communities facing social challenges. This is achieved through a community-centric approach and the delivery of targeted interventions, including but not limited to social work services, homeownership support, education support, livelihood development, and community development. The ultimate aim is to empower communities to break the cycle of poverty and achieve sustainable progress.

Working collaboratively with community members and ecosystem partners, the Senior Social Worker supports socially disadvantaged, low-income families and individuals in realising their aspirations. He/She will maintain ahigh standard of professionalism and be accountable to the service user, the community, and the organisation, to ensure that intervention plans are developed and implemented with sound professional judgment and high ethical standards.

Responsibilities:

To deliver Community Centric Social Work Practice which includes the following 5 domains:

1.     FSC Code of Social Work Practice

·       Manage cases according to the FSC CSWP guidelines and timelines, which includes conducting sessions in agencies, home visits, case conferences and other methods of engagement with service users.

·       Handle Information and Referral duties, including conducting Enquiries and Intake Assessments.

·       Maintain accurate and confidential casework records to document interventions, assessments and case plans (e.g. Assessment and Case Plans, Case Session Recordings, Contact Logs), on the required platforms such as SSNet and CaseConnect.

·       To intervene in safety and risk concerns, developing safety plans and making risk assessments, to improve the family’s functioning towards stability.

2.     Empowering Casework

·       Identify assets in services users and community members, so as to mobilize them to contribute to community well-being.

·       Engage the community members and facilitate support and connections to improve the well-being of service users.

·       Work with SCC Community Workers in a team approach, in order to improve the well-being of service users.

3.     Community Building

·       Conduct community conversations, group work and other community engagement activities to build associations and connections within the community.

·       Grow and sustain community associations that can contribute to the community

·       Work with, guide and mentor community connectors to be able to build become facilitators and contributors to community well-being.

4.     Activating Potential and Pathways

·       Holding asset-building and aspirational development conversations with service users to activate their potential for social mobility.

·       Referrals to other internal and external enablers and initiatives that can facilitate asset-building for social mobility.

·       Connect families with available resources such as ComLink+ Progress Packages, to encourage social mobility.

5.     Advancing Social Mobility

·       Supporting families’ social mobility journey by continued engagement of service users and coordinating with other internal and external stakeholders to maintain progress towards social mobility goals.

·       Develop asset-building or social action projects where necessary

As a Senior Social Worker, you are also expected to perform:

·       Supervision and Training:

  • To meet assigned junior staff periodically to discuss cases under their care, and to ensure intervention plans developed and implemented are based on professional judgement and knowledge
  • To support junior staff in managing crisis and complex cases, including in-person support, attending case conferences, linking to resources, etc.
  • To vet and approve all social reports, assessment documents and other reports for junior staff
  • To coach junior staff in report writing, assessment frameworks and other relevant competencies
  • To lead and ensure junior staff act professionally at all times and to be accountable to service users

·       Other Portfolios

  • To be involved and lead in various projects (e.g. research, group and community work, grant disbursement, etc.)
  • To contribute to other portfolios to support the management and organization of the social work team.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work or related disciplines from recognised universities
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in social work practice, preferably with supervision experience
  • Believe that people and communities have intrinsic strengths and resources that can be harnessed for the betterment of family and community life
  • Passion for engaging with communities and social mobility work
  • Knowledge and experience with social work interventions and social policies, and interest in community development work will be an added advantage
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team to enable greater synergy in the work
  • Strong analytical, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
