Job Description

Responsibilities

We are representing our client (An established IT technology provider) to look for an experienced Assistant Technical Manager to lead technical delivery across the full engineering lifecycle from discovery and architecture through to production operations, while coaching client engineering teams to build lasting capability. This is a consultancy role

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discovery and architecture design for greenfield and legacy modernisation — microservices, event-driven, API-first, strangler patterns.
  • Champion quality engineering: comprehensive test strategy, code review, pair programming, TDD, refactoring, and technical debt management.
  • Build production-quality applications with strong test coverage; deploy on modern cloud platforms with CI/CD and infrastructure as code.
  • Define API contracts and integration patterns; run spike solutions and POCs to de-risk architecture decisions before full build.
  • Proactively surface technical risks, communicate trade-offs clearly, and keep delivery momentum across engineering and business stakeholders.
  • Establish monitoring and observability frameworks; facilitate technical retrospectives to continuously improve engineering practice.
  • Enable client engineers through pairing, tailored coaching, and feedback — build end-to-end engineering capability, not dependency.
  • Facilitate technical workshops — architecture reviews, mob programming, discovery sessions — across distributed and co-located teams.

Requirement

  • Minimum 8 years of full-stack engineering across the full lifecycle — architecture, development, testing, deployment, and production ops — on both greenfield and legacy modernization.
  • Coaching: Proven experience enabling engineers through pairing, workshops, or mentorship across distributed and co-located teams.
  • Technical: Language and framework agnostic strong in cloud platforms, CI/CD, security best practices (OWASP-Open Web Application Security Project ), AI-augmented tooling; consultancy experience presenting trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Quality-first mindset, thrives on ambiguity, energised by enabling others as much as by building; pragmatic about tech debt without cutting corners.
  • Familiarity with GovTech platforms (SHIP-HATS, SG Tech Stack, GCC) or prior work with Singapore Government agencies is strongly preferred
