Description and Requirements

We are seeking a highly driven, strategic, and technically savvy Business Development Manager (BDM) to spearhead Lenovo’s commercial growth within the Power, Utilities, and Oil & Gas sectors across the Asia-Pacific (AP) region.

In this role, you will lead the charge in positioning Lenovo as a trusted partner in robotics transformation, introducing our cutting-edge, agile robotics solutions—such as advanced quadruped inspection robots and localized Physical AI systems—designed for hazardous environments, predictive maintenance, and complex asset inspection. The ideal candidate possesses a deep enterprise network within the energy industry, understands the rigorous safety demands of heavy industrial sites, and excels at translating complex automation capabilities into tangible ROI for C-suite executives and operations directors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Market Expansion & Customer Engagement

  • Drive Regional Growth: Lead business development and enterprise sales efforts for Lenovo’s Robotics and Physical AI portfolio among major power generation companies, public/private utilities, and upstream/midstream/downstream oil and gas operators.
  • Accelerate Digitalization: Identify high-value business opportunities to help customers accelerate their digitalization, smart manufacturing, and intelligence journeys across their entire operational value chain.
  • Strategic Sales Execution: Develop and execute comprehensive strategic sales plans and regional visit schedules to achieve or exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets.

2. Complex Solution Selling & ROI Modeling

  • End-to-End Deal Ownership: Manage full-cycle sales activities for large-scale enterprise accounts—from prospecting, qualification, and value proposition modeling to complex negotiation and deal closure.
  • Consultative Enterprise Selling: Lead complex, long-cycle enterprise sales processes. Partner with clients to understand their operational bottlenecks, safety hazards, and inspection needs, positioning Lenovo's agile robotics as critical solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Solutioning: Collaborate closely with product, solution engineering, and delivery teams to tailor end-to-end digital transformation solutions (integrating Computer Vision, Digital Twins, and Big Data Analytics) that address customer needs.

3. Key Account Management & Local Ecosystem Cultivation

  • C-Suite Relationship Management: Build and nurture strong, consultative relationships with stakeholders ranging from on-site plant/refinery managers to corporate CXO-level executives.
  • Ecosystem Orchestration: Deeply engage with the local industrial ecosystem, maintaining an active network of customers, solution providers, and maintenance service partners across the utility and oil & gas sectors.
  • Feedback Loop: Provide continuous feedback on customer pain points, industry trends, and regulatory changes to refine Lenovo’s global robotics solution portfolio.

4. Project Leadership & Brand Ambassadorship

  • Resource Coordination: Effectively coordinate internal and external technical resources in large-scale engagements to ensure flawless project delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent Lenovo at premier energy and robotics conferences, exhibitions, and technical panels to enhance brand visibility and thought leadership in Smart Manufacturing and Robotics.

Role Requirements

Experience & Expertise

  • Industry Experience: 5+ years of direct enterprise sales or business development experience working with major customers in the Power Utility, Oil, and Gas sectors.
  • Proven Track Record: At least 3+ years in complex solution sales for large enterprises, with a demonstrated history of closing multiple high-value deals (ideally 3+ deals valued at $10M+ each).
  • Domain & Robotics Knowledge: Hands-on experience or deep familiarity with Physical AI applications and advanced robotic systems (e.g., working directly with quadruped robots for site inspections, autonomous navigation).
  • Advanced Tech Familiarity: Strong understanding of emerging digital transformation technology stacks including Computer Vision, Big Data Analytics, Digital Twins, Cloud, IoT, and Industrial Automation.

Technical & Safety Acumen

  • Safety & Compliance: Strong awareness of industrial safety protocols, compliance standards, and the operational constraints of working in hazardous, rugged environments (e.g., ATEX/IECEx certifications, oil rigs, refineries, or substations).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (CS), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering (EE), or related technical fields. A minor in business disciplines or an MBA/Master’s degree is highly preferred.

Communication & Personal Attributes

  • Languages: Fluency in English and Mandarin is required to coordinate across regional teams and stakeholders. Proficiency in one or more languages relevant to Southeast Asia or the Middle East is a distinct advantage.
  • Sales & Negotiation Mastery: Exceptional opportunity qualification, value articulation, stakeholder management, and deal-closure skills.
  • Mobility: High resilience and ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment, with a willingness to undertake frequent regional travel (up to 50%) for client site visits, PoC and demonstrations.
