Responsibilities
We are partnered with a fantastic global events business that are look for an experienced team leader to oversee a division of their events team. The role will oversee 10-12 members of staff, along with growing the team.
This role is perfect for you if are a natural leader with 8–10 years of experience in corporate event management, specifically within fast-paced environments. You will possess a unique blend of operational rigor and emotional intelligence. You don't just assign tasks; you mentor talent, resolve complex escalations with grace, and foster an atmosphere where creativity and efficiency thrive. You are comfortable navigating large-scale databases, managing cross-functional relationships, and adapting instantly to the needs of a global environment.
Key responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership & Team Cultivation
Build & Mentor: Directly manage a dedicated team, overseeing their professional growth through continuous feedback, coaching, and structured onboarding/offboarding processes.
Culture Builder: Champion a positive, collaborative work environment that aligns with core organisational values, ensuring the team remains motivated even under tight deadlines.
Resource Optimisation: Actively monitor team capacity, balancing workloads to prevent burnout while ensuring peak performance during critical event cycles.
2. Operational Excellence & Execution
End-to-End Oversight: Orchestrate the lifecycle of complex events, from initial intake and space approval to final execution and post-event auditing.
Crisis Management: Serve as the primary point of escalation, resolving on-site challenges swiftly to maintain seamless operations.
Compliance & Safety: Enforce strict adherence to health and safety protocols, ensuring a secure and pristine environment for all campus activities.
3. Client Partnership & Innovation
Strategic Advisory: Act as a trusted consultant to internal stakeholders, advising on event strategy for high-profile groups and identifying value-added opportunities.
Relationship Management: Nurture long-term partnerships with client leadership, ensuring their evolving needs are met with proactive solutions.
Process Improvement: Leverage data and feedback to refine standard operating procedures, driving greater efficiency and smarter workflows across the department.
The Role in Practice
Hybrid Flexibility: While based primarily at one location, you must be agile enough to deploy across multiple sites as business demands shift.
Data-Driven Decisions: Utilise complex database systems to track metrics, generate monthly audit reports, and inform strategic planning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with People & Culture teams on recruitment and employee relations, acting as a bridge between operational needs and HR strategy.
Essential Qualifications
Experience: 8–10+ years in event management, with a proven track record of leading teams in corporate or tech settings.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage direct reports, handle performance reviews, and drive team engagement. Leadership of a minimum of 6 people is essential.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels, from junior staff to C-suite executives.
Problem Solving: A creative, resourceful mindset with the ability to make decisive choices in high-pressure situations.
Tech Savviness: Proficiency in managing large datasets and event management software.
