Responsibilities

About The Role

We are partnering with a well-established, consumer-facing business to appoint a Head of HR leading the people agenda across a nationwide retail footprint.


This is a hands-on leadership role, focused on driving HR delivery across a operations-led environment. You will play a key role in ensuring the business has the right workforce, structure and processes in place to support performance and growth across stores and support functions.


Summary of the role and key responsibilities

Reporting into senior leadership, you will take full ownership of HR across Malaysia, working closely with operations to drive consistency, efficiency and employee engagement across the network.


Key areas of focus include:

  • Leading HR across a nationwide retail workforce, including store operations and head office
  • Driving high-volume recruitment to support store performance, expansion and attrition management
  • Overseeing day-to-day HR operations, including employee lifecycle, payroll coordination and compliance
  • Acting as a key partner to operations leaders on workforce planning, performance and retention
  • Managing employee relations, ensuring issues are handled effectively across multiple sites
  • Embedding consistent HR processes, policies and governance across the retail network
  • Leading and developing the HR team to deliver strong, consistent execution on the ground
  • Supporting initiatives across culture, performance management and capability building


Key skills required

We are looking for a hands-on HR leader with strong experience in retail or similarly operational, high-volume environments.


You will bring:

  • Proven experience leading HR within a retail, F&B, hospitality or similar frontline-heavy business in Malaysia
  • Strong track record in high-volume hiring and workforce management
  • Deep understanding of Malaysian labour laws, compliance and employee relations
  • Experience managing distributed workforces across multiple locations
  • A highly operational mindset with the ability to balance strategy and execution
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, particularly with operations leaders
  • Experience building and leading HR teams in fast-paced environments
