We are partnered with an established financial services organisation to look for a lead for Backend Engineering. This is a pivotal role within a highly collaborative, global agile environment where you will act as both a hands-on technical authority and an engineering people leader. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional product teams, technical architects, and product owners to design, develop, and deploy complex enterprise microservices.

Key Responsibilitie

• sAct as the primary custodian for backend engineering excellence, enforcing robust code repository quality, modern technical standards, and system design best practices while actively minimizing technical debt
• .Provide functional leadership and technical direction to a dedicated engineering chapter of 5+ members. You will foster a culture of continuous learning, host internal knowledge-sharing workshops, and manage strategic chapter capacity, succession planning, and risk mitigation
• .Contribute directly to squad deliverables and agile sprints by developing scalable, secure backend systems, writing clean code, creating technical solution diagrams, and designing complex microservices architecture
• .Independently oversee, maintain, and optimize continuous integration and deployment workflows, utilizing automated build tools and container orchestration platforms
• .Partner closely with Security Champions to conduct comprehensive security impact assessments, ensuring all production software releases comply with strict corporate risk controls and data protection guidelines

• d:At least 8 years of deep technical experience within the software engineering domain, with a proven track record of leading technical teams or managing an engineering chapte
• r.Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science Engineering, MCA, or a closely related technical fiel
• d.Extensive experience operating within modern Agile and Lean frameworks alongside globally distributed, cross-functional delivery team
