Job Description

Responsibilities

A Haulage Operation involves the commercial transport of goods, cargo, or heavy loads by road rail, or sea—though it most commonly refers to road freight using heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) like semi-trucks, container trailers, and tippers.

​In the logistics industry, haulage is the backbone that connects ports, factories, warehouses, and distribution centers.

​Core Responsibilities

​1. Fleet & Asset Management

​Vehicle Tracking: Monitoring the movement of trucks and trailers using GPS and telematics systems to ensure on-time deliveries.

​Maintenance Scheduling: Coordinating routine servicing, inspections, and emergency repairs for prime movers and trailers to minimize downtime and prevent breakdowns.

​Fuel Efficiency Management: Analyzing fuel consumption and implementing strategies to reduce costs (e.g., driver training, route optimization).

​2. Route Planning & Dispatching

​Strategic Routing: Mapping out the most efficient paths for drivers, taking into account traffic, toll costs, vehicle weight restrictions, and delivery windows.

​Driver Assignment: Allocating loads and routes to drivers based on their available driving hours, location, and the specific requirements of the cargo.

​Real-Time Problem Solving: Managing disruptions such as port congestion, traffic accidents, or mechanical failures, and rerouting vehicles accordingly.

​3. Compliance & Regulatory Enforcement

​Weight & Load Limits: Ensuring all vehicles comply with local legal weight limits (e.g., axle load regulations) to avoid heavy penalties and ensure road safety.

​Driver Welfare & Hours: Monitoring driver logs to ensure strict adherence to legal driving hour limits and mandatory rest periods.

​Licensing & Permits: Keeping all vehicle road tax, commercial permits, insurance, and safety certifications up to date.

​4. Cargo & Yard Operations

​Container Management: Coordinating the pick-up and drop-off of empty and laden containers from ports, depots, or customer warehouses.

​Load Securing: Verifying that cargo is properly loaded, balanced, and strapped down to prevent shifting or damage during transit.

​Yard Optimization: Managing the space within the company yard for efficient parking, decoupling of trailers, and storage of containers.

​5. Customer & Stakeholder Communication

​Port & Customs Liaison: Coordinating closely with port authorities, shipping lines, and customs brokers to ensure smooth container clearance and gate passes.

​Customer Updates: Providing clients with accurate Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) updates and handling any delivery disputes or delays professionally.

Pay: RM1,700.00 - RM2,300.00 per month
