Role Description This is a full-time, on-site IT role based in Penang, Malaysia. The IT team member will support and maintain the hotel’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, workstations, and hospitality systems (such as PMS, POS, and back-office systems). Daily tasks include diagnosing and resolving hardware and software incidents, monitoring network performance, and implementing security measures to protect hotel data and systems. The role also involves providing responsive technical support to hotel team members, coordinating with external vendors when needed, and documenting IT procedures and configurations. The IT professional will assist in system upgrades, backups, and preventive maintenance to ensure smooth hotel operations and minimal downtime.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Information Technology, including operating systems, basic server administration, and hotel-related applications.
- Hands-on experience with Network Administration and Network Security, including configuring routers/switches, managing Wi-Fi, and applying security best practices.
- Proficiency in Troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues in a fast-paced, 24/7 hospitality environment.
- Customer Service mindset with the ability to support internal users professionally, clearly, and patiently.
- Relevant certification or diploma/degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field; industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft) are an advantage.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional hotel teams.
- Willingness to work on shifts, weekends, or public holidays when required to support hotel operations.
- Previous IT support experience in a hotel or service-oriented environment is a plus.
