As a Junior Oracle Database Administrator, you will be a part of a growing international team based in Kuala Lumpur Center mainly supporting Oracle database on Google cloud and on-premise Exadata engineered or other x86 systems. We are seeking candidates with wide range of expertise and skills in Oracle database field such as day-to-day administration, performance tuning, monitoring, Backup/restore and PLSQL programming know-how. You will be mentoring other database administrators sharing your expertise and work in a big database team. Overlapping skills with other database flavours and Cloud support is an add on.
TASK LIST FOR THE ROLE OF Database Administrator
- Database Administration support with main focus Oracle databases on Google cloud or on-premise x86 Linux systems and Exadata engineered systems.
- Database Maintenance, housekeeping, troubleshooting.
- Identify and resolve database performance issues, including tuning SQL queries, optimizing indexing, and implementing necessary database changes.
- Incident, problem and change management of database-related incidents and problems, both in collaboration with other technical teams.
- Provide operational support, including capacity planning, system performance analysis, and resource utilization monitoring.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to database administration procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
- Installation, configuration and lifecycle migrations/upgrades and patch management
- Conduct ongoing monitoring and proactive management of database systems to ensure high availability and performance.
- Support database backup and recovery activities, ensuring appropriate backup strategies and disaster recovery plans are in place.
- Basic unix, PHP, python shell scripting knowledge
- Participate in an on-call rotation schedule to ensure 24/7 availability and response to critical incidents.
- Implement and maintain Oracle Data Guard for disaster recovery and high availability.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
Essential Skills:
- At least 3 years of experience working in Oracle database administration preferably in large companies
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably Google)
- Database Administration, backup/recovery and Monitoring of Oracle 19c or 23ai
- Problem analysis resolution and error debugging including skills in raising support requests with vendors.
- Database performance tuning (configuration related and application code tuning)
- Database installation and configuration including patching
- Essential skills in Oracle's HA availability solutions (Data Guard and RAC)
- RMAN backup and recovery and RMAN cloning and duplication
- Data transfer/extract features ( eg Oracle’s expdp/impdp)
- Space management analysis and object reorganization
- Oracle's ASM filesystem management profound knowledge
- Database patching and migrations
- Database user management (authorisation and authentication)
- Oracle OEM installation and registration of targets and their OEM monitoring
- Analysis of database performance reports
- Basic unix shell scripting, PHP or Python programming skills
- Basic SQL (PLSQL) database programming (stored procedures , functions and packages)
- Comprehensive knowledge in database security.
- Controlling RMAN Backup and Recovery refresh/cloning, also taking hot backups manually on need basis.
- Knowledge of TDE encryption and TLS network encryption concepts
Preferred Skills (technical, methodology and business):
- Knowledge of another database technology: PostgreSQL, MS-SQL, Redis Cache is a plus.
- Knowledge in Oracle’s APEX setup and programming
- Knowledge in Oracle 23c is preferred
- Experience in software methodology, processes and quality assurance
- Knowledge in the area of IT security
