Responsibilities
Job Summary
The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that automotive products and processes meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements throughout the product lifecycle. This role leads quality planning, problem-solving, and continuous improvement activities while working closely with cross-functional teams, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities for new or transferred product launches and engineering changes.
Review and approve PPAP documentation in compliance with customer specific requirement.
Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and applicable automotive standards and customer-specific requirements.
Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions using structured problem-solving methods (8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, etc.).
Lead and participate in PFMEA reviews to identify and mitigate quality risks.
Analyze quality data and performance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
Support internal audit (process, product audit & requalification) and customer audit; act as a quality representative during customer visits.
Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, and suppliers to resolve internal quality issues with correct approach (e.g., QRQC).
Ensure effective implementation of control plans, inspection standards, and testing requirements.
Participate or lead the QIP (Quality Improvement Project) and work with cross-functional team.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
5–8+ years of quality engineering experience in the automotive industry.
Strong knowledge of automotive 5 core tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, Control Plans.
Hands-on experience with IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements (OEMs or Tier 1/Tier 2).
Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
Experience working with manufacturing processes (e.g., assembly, electronic, molding,).
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar quality certification.
Experience with Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
Prior customer-facing experience and involvement in product launches and 8D reporting.
Knowledge of automotive safety and regulatory requirements (e.g, VDA).
Experience working with China-based suppliers and customers.
