Role Description

  • This is a full-time, on-site Workshop Manager role based in Johor, Malaysia (main) and covering other locations as well.
  • The Workshop Manager oversees daily workshop operations, including scheduling and supervising maintenance and repair of buses to ensure roadworthiness, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • The role involves managing a team of technicians and mechanics, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing guidance and training where needed.
  • The Workshop Manager coordinates with operations and fleet management teams to prioritize vehicle availability, manage breakdowns, and minimize downtime.
  • Responsibilities also include monitoring inventory of spare parts and tools, controlling maintenance costs, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental procedures within the workshop.


Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge in automotive or heavy vehicle maintenance, including diagnostics, repair procedures, and preventive maintenance planning.
  • Experience in workshop or fleet operations management, covering scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow optimization.
  • People management capabilities, including team supervision, coaching, performance monitoring, and fostering a safe, respectful work environment.
  • Operational and administrative skills, such as inventory control, cost tracking, report preparation, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills to work with internal departments, external vendors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Relevant technical certification or diploma/degree in automotive engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in bus, commercial vehicle, or public transport workshops is an advantage.
  • Ability to work on-site in Johor, manage shifting priorities, and respond promptly to operational issues or emergencies.
