You will take ownership of process control systems, ensuring solutions are robust, compliant, and aligned with global regulatory expectations.
The role works closely with cross-functional teams to connect digital infrastructure with on-site manufacturing operations, playing a critical role in delivering efficient, high-performance production environments.
Automation Systems Leadership: Oversee the design and integration of control platforms, including DCS, SCADA, and PLC systems, ensuring alignment with plant requirements and long-term scalability.
Validation & Qualification Oversight: Lead automation-related validation efforts, including computer systems validation and support for commissioning and qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ), ensuring systems are fit for purpose.
Compliance & Data Integrity: Maintain robust governance of automation systems to meet global pharmaceutical standards, with strong focus on data integrity, audit readiness, and secure system design.
Technical Escalation Point: Serve as the lead expert during system disruptions, driving root cause analysis, rapid issue resolution, and recovery of manufacturing operations.
Vendor & Contractor Management: Coordinate and oversee system integrators and technology partners, ensuring delivery meets technical, quality, and timeline expectations.
Cost Efficiency & Performance: Drive optimisation of automation systems across their lifecycle, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and manage operational expenditure.
Technology Integration & Upgrades: Lead the adoption and implementation of new digital and automation technologies (e.g. predictive tools, smart instrumentation) while minimising impact on ongoing production.
Safety & Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all automation activities comply with local safety regulations and environmental standards, maintaining a safe and compliant operating environment.
Industry Experience: Background in automated manufacturing within regulated environments (pharma, biologics, API).
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of PLC/DCS systems (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley), industrial networks, and historian platforms.
Education: Degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering; certifications are a plus.
Problem Solving: Able to troubleshoot complex systems and deliver clear, actionable solutions.
Leadership: Experience managing cross-functional teams and engaging global stakeholders.
Compliance: Familiar with GAMP5, GxP, and data integrity standards (e.g. 21 CFR Part 11).
