Financial Accountant – APAC
Role Overview
The Financial Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and compliant accounting activities across the APAC region. This role supports the integrity of financial reporting through effective execution of transactional accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, inventory accounting, and adherence to Group accounting policies and internal controls.
The position plays a key role in ensuring consistent month-end close processes and maintaining reliable accounting records across manufacturing and quarrying operations. Working within a structured regional finance environment, the Financial Accountant collaborates closely with operational teams and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve accounting matters and ensure accurate financial inputs.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Month-End Close
- Execute month-end accounting activities including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications.
- Prepare and maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring outstanding reconciling items are investigated and resolved in a timely manner.
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger in accordance with Group accounting policies and procedures.
- Support APAC close processes by delivering complete, accurate, and timely accounting outputs.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
Audit, Tax & Compliance Support
- Prepare accounting schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
- Respond to audit queries and assist in resolving accounting matters identified during audit reviews.
- Support tax compliance activities by providing accurate accounting data, reconciliations, and supporting documentation to internal tax teams and external advisors.
- Ensure accounting records appropriately support tax calculations, statutory reporting, and local compliance requirements.
Fixed Assets & Capital Accounting
- Maintain fixed asset registers, including capitalisation, depreciation, transfers, and disposals.
- Account for capital expenditure in accordance with Group capitalisation policies, approval frameworks, and accounting standards.
- Liaise with site, engineering, and project teams to obtain accurate asset information and supporting documentation.
- Support periodic asset verification exercises and fixed asset reviews.
Inventory & Production Accounting
- Perform inventory accounting and reconciliations across raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory.
- Support standard costing processes and analyse inventory and production variances from an accounting perspective.
- Ensure appropriate inventory valuation and accurate cut-off procedures during month-end close activities.
- Assist in maintaining inventory accounting controls and improving reporting accuracy.
Controls, Compliance & Process Improvement
- Apply Group accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls consistently across assigned entities.
- Maintain clear process documentation and audit-ready supporting evidence for key accounting activities.
- Support internal control reviews and compliance initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and operational efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Ad-hoc requests
- Collaborate with operational and non-finance teams to obtain accounting inputs and resolve discrepancies.
- Provide accounting guidance relating to transactions, processes, and financial data requirements.
- Respond to accounting-related queries from regional finance teams and business stakeholders.
- Support with ad-hoc projects as requested by manager or other senior finance stakeholders
Ideal Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent.
- Approximately 3–5 years of experience in financial accounting or operational accounting roles.
Technical Skills - Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliation processes.
- Good knowledge of accounting controls, compliance requirements, and disciplined month-end close practices.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.
