Job Description – MEP Cost Manager


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced MEP Cost Manager to join our growing team in Malaysia. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering cost management and commercial advisory services across a range of construction projects, with a strong focus on Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems.

This role is ideal for candidates with a solid MEP background gained from consulting engineering firms or contractors, who possess strong commercial acumen and experience managing project costs throughout the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver full cost management services for MEP packages across multiple projects
  • Prepare cost estimates, cost plans, tender documentation, and tender evaluations
  • Review contractor quotations, variations, claims, and progress payments
  • Conduct cost analysis, value engineering, and benchmarking exercises
  • Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure commercial objectives are achieved
  • Support procurement strategies and contract administration activities
  • Identify commercial risks and provide mitigation strategies
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, contractual obligations, and industry standards
  • Attend site visits and project meetings as required


Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, Construction Management, or related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in MEP cost management, quantity surveying, or commercial management
  • Strong MEP technical knowledge gained from consulting engineering firms and/or contractors
  • Experience working on large-scale commercial, industrial, infrastructure, mission critical, or data centre projects is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of contracts, procurement processes, and cost control principles
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and cost management software/tools
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within Peninsular Malaysia
