Job Description

Responsibilities

Role Overview

The System Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing enterprise infrastructure and virtualization environments across customer environments. The role focuses on ensuring stable, secure, and highly available infrastructure services through proactive administration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, patching, remediation, and operational governance.

The engineer will support Nutanix HCI platforms, VMware virtualization infrastructure, Windows Server environments, backup systems, and enterprise monitoring platforms while ensuring compliance with operational standards, security policies, audit requirements, and service level commitments.

The role also involves supporting infrastructure upgrades, vulnerability remediation, CVE workaround implementation, system hardening, certificate renewal management, backup and disaster recovery operations, as well as internal and external audit activities.

The ideal candidate should possess strong technical troubleshooting skills, operational discipline, customer engagement capability, and the ability to support enterprise infrastructure environments across on-premises and hybrid cloud platforms.---

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Virtualization Management

· Administer and maintain Nutanix, VMware ESXi/vCenter, Windows Server, and enterprise infrastructure environments.

· Perform preventive maintenance, system health checks, patching, upgrade, remediation, and infrastructure optimization activities.

· Support virtualization operations including VM provisioning, cluster management, snapshot management, and resource monitoring.

· Perform vulnerability remediation, CVE workaround implementation, infrastructure hardening, and SSL certificate renewal activities.

· Support backup, restore, disaster recovery, and business continuity operations using enterprise backup solutions.

· Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, virtualization, storage, backup, and operating system-related incidents within agreed SLA timelines.

· Monitor infrastructure performance, system alerts, capacity utilization, and operational health across managed environments.

· Support incident, problem, change, patch, and operational governance activities within managed services environments.

· Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, configuration baselines, operational records, and audit-related documentation.

· Coordinate with vendors, cloud, network, security, and application teams for issue resolution and service improvement initiatives.

Audit, Compliance & Governance

· Support internal and external audit activities related to infrastructure, virtualization, security, and operational compliance.

· Prepare audit evidence, system configuration records, patch compliance reports, and operational documentation during audit exercises.

· Support remediation activities arising from audit findings, vulnerability assessments, and security reviews.

· Ensure infrastructure operations comply with governance standards, security policies, and operational procedures.

Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge

· Diploma, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

· Minimum 4–5 years of experience in infrastructure, virtualization, or managed services support environments.

· Hands-on experience supporting Nutanix HCI, VMware ESXi/vCenter, Windows Server, and enterprise infrastructure platforms.

· Familiar with virtualization, storage, backup, patch management, monitoring, and disaster recovery operations.

· Experience supporting enterprise backup solutions such as Veeam, Veritas NetBackup, or equivalent platforms.

· Familiar with vulnerability remediation, infrastructure hardening, CVE mitigation, and operational security best practices.

  • · Knowledge of ITSM processes including Incident, Problem, Change, Patch, and Asset Management.
  • Good analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to work independently and support operational activities in customer-facing and fast-paced environments.
  • · Certifications such as Nutanix NCP, VMware VCP, Microsoft, or ITIL certifications are advantageous.
