About the Job
The role is responsible for managing and supporting daily data centre facility operations to ensure data centre uptime, operational reliability, and efficient facility management. This includes coordinating maintenance activities, monitoring facility performance, managing data centre hosting service provider SLA and uptime, utility and billing verification, as well as supporting infrastructure and facility-related projects. The role also overseas office facilities operations including office building facilities, security systems, and workplace infrastructure.
- Manage end-to-end Data Centre (DC) service delivery with oversight of vendor performance, ensuring SLA compliance, uptime, and operational stability.
- Monitor health of systems and infrastructure platforms, performing analysis and supporting capacity planning for future growth and projects.
- Monitor and manage DC facilities infrastructure including power, cooling, UPS, generator, fire suppression, CCTV, and access control systems.
- Lead incident management, troubleshooting, and escalation for facilities-related issues to minimize service disruption.
- Conduct DC power assessment and optimisation, including documentation of power usage, PDU capacity, and equipment disposal to free up resources.
- Plan and optimise DC rack space, including rack consolidation activities to improve space utilisation and future scalability.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, testing activities, and audit/compliance requirements for the data centre environment.
- Manage office facilities operations including building services, security systems, and workplace infrastructure.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure high availability.
- Support IT Asset team inclusive of DC asset documentation, stock checks, asset tagging, hostname labelling, and updates to inventory systems.
- Support ongoing DC projects by working closely with project managers to ensure timely execution and delivery of milestones.
- Manage service agreements and contracts for DC and office facilities, ensuring timely renewal and proper contract governance.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policies, proactively identifying and mitigating operational and business risks, such as RMiT, DCRA and TVRA, and implement appropriate mitigation actions.
- Manage all Data Centre (DC) related billing activities in coordination with the Finance team to ensure timely and accurate payments.
- Ensure adherence to GEL operational processes, procedures, and group standards.
- Take accountability for identifying and managing business and regulatory compliance risks, implementing appropriate mitigation actions when required.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, including regulatory changes, emerging threats, and new technologies to strengthen risk understanding and protection measures.
- Proactively highlight potential risks and concerns and actively share best practices in risk management and compliance across teams.
- Drive adoption of AI-enabled insights for capacity planning, incident prediction, and operational automation within DC facilities.
- Maintain facility operation records, maintenance reports, and supporting documentation.
We are looking for people with
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / IT or Diploma with Professional Certifications.
- At least 8 years relevant experience successfully managing data centre service delivery or platform solutions or IT systems implementation and integration.
- Leadership capability with ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and operational activities
- Strong coordination, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Experience in leading or supervising facility operations and vendor activities will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge in Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) systems, including power distribution, cooling systems, UPS, generators, and critical DC infrastructure operations.
- Strong knowledge of various devices, brands and toolsets related to data centre management and patching.
- High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork.
- Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes.
- Experience in vendor management and vendor assessment review.
- Experience with regulator audit requirements regarding Data Centre.
