The Hong Kong University Of Science And Technology Hiring! Full Time Research Assistant in Sai Kung District, Hong Kong - Ricebowl

A highly motivated Research Assistant is sought to join our induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) team. The individual will join a dedicated team that utilizes human iPSC-derived systems to model Alzheimer’s disease. The Research Assistant will be trained to reprogram terminally differentiated cells into iPSCs, characterize iPSCs, differentiate neuronal and glial cells, and characterize the differentiated cells using cutting-edge technologies.

Duties:

• Tissue culture and quality control of iPSC and neuronal and glial differentiation;
• Run both differentiation and phenotyping assays, including but not limited to immunocytochemistry, imaging, western blot, and RT-qPCR;
• Create quality assured banks of iPSC for use in a variety of projects;
• Record all works in a laboratory notebook;
• Maintain the laboratory operations, i.e. ordering supplies, general upkeep; and
• Organize and cryopreserve processed samples in liquid nitrogen tank.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in biology/molecular biology/biochemistry/neurobiology or related field;
• Flexible working hours during weekdays AND weekends on a rotating schedule;
• Experience in cell culture is preferred;
• Experience in iPSC would be a plus;
• Past research experience in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, or neuroscience at the undergraduate level or beyond is preferred;
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and team-oriented; and
• Strong organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills.

(Duration: 1 year, renewable)
