Job Summary
As a Hardware Reliability Engineer, you will own the reliability lifecycle of next-generation two-way radios, LTE broadband devices, and mission-critical accessories. You will design and execute advanced stress testing to ensure products survive extreme environments—from desert heat to high-vibration industrial settings. You will be the technical lead for Accelerated Life Testing (ALT), ensuring our hardware meets stringent IP67/IP68 and MIL-STD-810 standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Reliability Strategy: Define reliability targets and develop comprehensive Reliability Test Plans (RTP) for new product introductions (NPI).
- Accelerated Life Testing (ALT): Design and execute ALT, HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Test), and HASS protocols to predict product lifespan and identify potential "weak links" in the RF or mechanical design.
- Environmental Stress Testing: Lead testing for Thermal Shock, Random/Sine Vibration, Humidity, and Salt Fog using climatic chambers and electrodynamic shakers.
- Ingress Protection (IPXX): Oversee and validate IP67/IP68 testing, ensuring the structural integrity of seals against dust and high-pressure water immersion.
- Electrical & RF Parametric Testing: Perform pre- and post-stress electrical characterization (Sensitivity, Power, Harmonics) to ensure RF performance does not drift after environmental exposure.
- ESD & EMC Compliance: Execute Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) testing up to 15kV/30kV and ensure compliance with global EMC standards for mission-critical hardware.
- Root Cause Analysis: Drive Failure Analysis (FA) on units that fail during stress testing. Utilize 8D or Fishbone methodologies to recommend design changes to Connectivity and Controller engineering teams.
- Statistical Modeling: Utilize Weibull++ or Minitab to analyze life-data and calculate MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures).
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Communication Engineering.
- Experience: 3–5 years of experience in hardware reliability or environmental testing, preferably within the RF/Wireless or Automotive industry.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with RF measurement instruments: Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers (VNA), and Signal Generators.
- Hands-on experience with MIL-STD-810 and IEC 60529 (IP Ratings).
- Strong understanding of ESD (IEC 61000-4-2) protection and mitigation techniques.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical mindset with a "detective" approach to failure analysis. Ability to work in a cross-functional R&D environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) from ASQ.
- Experience with Qualcomm-based architectures or LTE/LMR systems.
- Knowledge of simulation tools like ADS or CST for predicting stress-strength interference.
