Structural Design Engineers (ETABS & RAM) - Australian Civil & Structural Design Consultancy- Hybrid with MRT/LRT

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer with approximately 8 years of experience to join our team and lead the design of complex structural systems across a diverse portfolio of projects in Australia. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in structural analysis and design, with advanced proficiency in ETABS and RAM Concept, and a sound understanding of Australian Standards (good to have). This role involves delivering efficient, practical, and buildable structural solutions across the full project lifecycle— from concept to construction.

Key Responsibilities

Structural Design & Analysis

• Carry out structural analysis and design of buildings using ETABS, RAM Concept, and other engineering tools.
• Design reinforced concrete, post-tensioned slabs, structural steel, and load-bearing elements to comply with AS codes.
• Design of temporary works including formwork, propping, and scaffolding structures.
• Prepare design reports, design briefs, and detailed structural calculations for submission and review.
• Ensure the structural integrity, buildability, and cost-effectiveness of all design solutions.

Project Delivery

• Lead the structural design process on a range of projects, from feasibility through to construction documentation.
• Coordinate design inputs with architects, services engineers, contractors, and BIM teams to ensure integration and constructability.
• Support drafting teams in the preparation of structural drawings, providing clear markups and guidance.
• Attend design and site meetings and respond to RFIs and construction-phase queries as needed.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure that all structural designs are in accordance with Australian Standards, NCC, and relevant statutory codes (with the guidance and collaboration with Australian team)
• Review drawings and documentation for technical accuracy, coordination, and clarity.

Mentoring & Development

• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership within the team.
• Share knowledge on software tools, design principles, and project delivery processes.

Preferred Experience & Skills

Experience:

• Approximately 8 years of structural engineering experience, preferably within a consulting or contractor design environment.
• Proven experience working on Australian commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects (good to have).

Technical Skills:

• Advanced proficiency in ETABS and RAM Concept.
• Strong understanding of reinforced concrete, post-tensioned systems, and structural steel design.
• Competent in relevant Australian Standards (AS3600, AS4100, AS1170, etc.) (good to have).
• Experience in using other tools such as RAPT, SpaceGass, or similar is advantageous.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
• Ability to manage workload across multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Pay: RM10,000.00 - RM15,000.00 per month
