Key Responsibilities
1. Operations
- Monitor and control molten aluminium temperature, level, and chemical composition during the casting process. (Daily)
- Ensure smooth coordination between Melter, Holder Furnace, and Casting Line operations. (Daily)
- Verify correct setup of casting parameters prior to and during production. (Daily)
- Monitor casting speed, thickness, width, and surface quality to ensure product consistency. (Daily)
- Escalate abnormal process conditions (e.g., breakouts, surface defects, instability) immediately.
- Ensure production targets (output, recovery, scrap ratio) are achieved. (Daily / Weekly / Monthly)
- Support trial runs, new alloy grades, and continuous process improvement initiatives. (As required)
2. Quality Control (QC)
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for casting defects (e.g., cracks, line marks, segregation). (As required)
- Verify implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for quality issues. (Daily)
- Ensure compliance with product specifications, customer requirements, and control plans. (Daily)
- Coordinate with QA/QC on non-conformance reporting (NCR) and product disposition. (As required)
- Monitor scrap generation and implement improvement actions to reduce waste. (Daily)
3. EHS / Safety Leadership
- Enforce safe work practices during molten metal handling and casting operations. (Daily)
- Conduct shift handover meetings and safety briefings before critical tasks. (Daily)
- Lead investigations for incidents, near-misses, and unsafe acts, including corrective actions. (As required)
- Ensure compliance with permit-to-work requirements (hot work, confined space, lifting). (Daily)
- Act as Emergency Response Leader during casting-related or fire incidents. (As required)
4. TPM / Equipment Reliability
- Perform first-level troubleshooting on casting line equipment (rollers, drives, sensors). (Daily)
- Lead Autonomous Maintenance (AM) activities with operators. (Weekly)
- Coordinate with Maintenance for breakdowns, preventive maintenance (PM), and shutdown activities. (Daily)
- Ensure proper lubrication, housekeeping, and machine condition standards are maintained. (Daily)
5. Training & People Development
- Coach operators on casting best practices, SOPs, and standard work. (Daily)
- Verify operator competency before independent operation. (As required)
- Support skill matrix updates and multi-skilling development. (Quarterly)
- Mentor new operators during probation and job rotation. (As required)
6. Management & Reporting
- Prepare daily shift reports covering safety, quality, production, and downtime. (Daily)
- Communicate shift performance, issues, and handover notes to the next shift and management. (Daily)
- Lead daily Gemba walks and performance reviews. (Daily)
- Support audits (EHS, Quality, TPM, ISO) and ensure timely closure of findings. (As required)
- Participate in cost reduction, yield improvement, and productivity initiatives. (Monthly)
Requirements
- Candidate must possess at least Diploma/Bachelor's Degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional Degree in Mechanical Foundry, Operation Management, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 10 Year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
- Required Skill(s): Planning Skills, Leadership Skills, Communication Skills Proactive, resourceful and perform multi-tasking tasks.
- Strong in manufacturing & safety background
- Strong knowledge in furnace operations, including metal temperature control, alloy preparation, and casting parameter monitoring.
- Hands-on experience in handling molten metal and ensuring strict compliance with safety procedures.
- Proven ability to lead and supervise shift manpower to ensure smooth production operations.
- Skilled in troubleshooting casting defects, equipment abnormalities, and process deviations.
- Able to coordinate effectively with Maintenance and technical teams.
- Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiar with monitoring production KPIs such as output, aluminium recovery, scrap composition, and downtime control.
