Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer (Mechanical / Electrical/ELV/Data Centre) with strong expertise in electrical and/or mechanical systems and/or ELV/ Data Centre. The ideal candidate should be experienced in system installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance, as well as managing project execution and coordination.
The role involves ensuring that all engineering works are carried out in compliance with relevant codes, standards, specifications, and safety requirements. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, technically strong, and capable of working independently or as part of a project team to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing project activities, focusing particularly on all electrical systems, equipment, and related infrastructure.
- Support the PM in ensuring the project is delivered according to scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, vendors, utility providers (e.g., TNB), and internal teams on all electrical-related project matters.
- Monitor project progress and provide daily/weekly site updates, highlighting risks or issues to the PM.
- Assist in preparing project plans, work schedules, method statements, testing plans, and technical documents.
- Oversee electrical installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and operational readiness in accordance with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) regulations.
- Ensure all electrical works comply with statutory requirements, project specifications, codes of practice, and safety standards.
- Supervise and verify the proper installation of switchboards, cabling, earthing systems, protection systems, and all electrical-related equipment.
- Carry out or supervise electrical testing works such as IR testing, loop testing, continuity testing, functional testing, and load tests.
- Monitor and ensure safe operation of electrical systems during construction, testing, and energization stages.
- Coordinate with T&C teams to ensure smooth electrical commissioning activities.
- Ensure all electrical works follow Energy Commission (ST) rules, Electricity Supply Act, and relevant industry standards.
- Lead electrical safety compliance at site, including energy isolation, LOTO procedures, and authorization for energization.
- Issue Permits-to-Work (PTW) for electrical-related activities when required.
- Ensure all electrical tools, instruments, and equipment are safe and properly maintained.
- Prepare and maintain all electrical-related documentation, including test results, inspection forms, checklists, daily logs, and technical reports.
- Assist the PM with progress reports, work verification, technical submissions, and client/consultant documentation.
- Maintain complete records of energization, commissioning, defects, non-conformities, and rectification works.
- Provide technical guidance to site supervisors, technicians, and subcontractors on electrical works.
- Assist the PM in managing manpower allocation, supervising site activities, and ensuring productivity targets are achieved.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training related to electrical safety and work coordination.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical issues or technical challenges that arise during construction or commissioning.
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions to maintain project timelines and quality.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure technical specifications and equipment performance meet project requirements.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant working experience in project engineering, preferably in electrical systems, M&E works, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in electrical installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Sound understanding of Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) regulations, Electricity Supply Act, and applicable codes of practice and industry standards.
- Familiar with electrical systems such as LV switchboards, cabling, earthing, protection systems, and control panels.
- Experience conducting or supervising electrical testing including IR test, loop impedance, continuity, functional testing, and load testing.
- Proven ability to coordinate with consultants, contractors, vendors, and utility providers (e.g., TNB).
- Strong understanding of site safety practices, including LOTO procedures, PTW systems, and energization control.
- Ability to prepare and review technical documents, method statements, testing & commissioning plans, inspection checklists, and reports.
- Capable of monitoring site progress, identifying risks, and proposing effective corrective or preventive actions.
- Good leadership and communication skills, with the ability to guide site supervisors, technicians, and subcontractors.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a project team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project); familiarity with AutoCAD or similar software is an added advantage.
- Willing to be site-based and travel as required by project needs.
- Possession of ST Competency Certificate (Chargeman / Wireman) will be an added advantage.
- Strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and commitment to quality, safety, and project timelines.

Pay: RM4,500.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
