Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Data Scientist based in Puchong, Selangor, Malaysia. The Data Scientist will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to uncover opportunities in company data, develop predictive models, and translate complex datasets into actionable business insights.

From building custom algorithms to monitoring model performance, this role sits at the intersection of data science and business strategy, playing a key part in shaping how Kun Way makes data-driven decisions as it grows and diversifies.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with stakeholders across the organisation to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive meaningful business solutions.
• Mine and analyse data from company databases to drive optimisation and improvement across product development, marketing, and business strategy.
• Evaluate the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
• Design and develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
• Apply predictive modelling to optimise customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting, and other business outcomes.
• Develop a company testing framework and ensure model quality and reliability.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
• Build processes and tools to continuously monitor and analyse model performance and data accuracy.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models, with familiarity in the following software and tools:

-Coding knowledge and experience with several languages: C*, C++, Java, JavaScript*, etc.

-Experience querying databases using statistical computer languages: R*, Python, SQL*, etc.

-Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.

-Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modelling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.

-Experience using web services: Redshift, S3, Spark, etc.

-Experience with distributed data and computing tools: Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, MySQL, etc.

-Experience analysing data from third-party providers: Google Analytics, Site Catalyst, Coremetrics, AdWords, Crimson Hexagon, Facebook Insights, etc.

-Experience visualising and presenting data for stakeholders using: Power BI, Tableau, Business Objects, D3, ggplot2, etc.

• Proficiency in statistical computer languages (R*, Python, SQL, etc*.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
• Experience working with and creating data architectures.
• Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages and drawbacks.
• Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.) with hands-on experience in applications.
