Responsibilities

About the Role

Our Client is seeking a skilled professional to oversee and enhance cooling solutions within data center environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing comprehensive thermal assessments and ensuring optimal system performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct precise calculations of cooling demands and analyze thermal loads at the rack level to support efficient data center operations.
  • Design, evaluate, and refine HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, chilled water setups, cooling towers, and associated pumping systems.
  • Lead initiatives for system upgrades and retrofits, aiming to minimize operational disruptions during implementation.
  • Assess system effectiveness through key performance indicators such as energy utilization and overall efficiency metrics.
  • Perform energy-saving studies, proposing enhancements like improved airflow management, containment solutions, and setpoint adjustments.
  • Assist in capacity planning efforts to accommodate future growth in IT loads and infrastructure demands.
  • Review technical drawings and method statements to verify alignment with design specifications and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to develop and implement standard operating procedures for mechanical system interventions.
  • Participate in risk assessments, failure analysis, and incident investigations related to cooling infrastructure.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to local standards and regulatory requirements, maintaining compliance at all times.

Qualifications & Skills

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is required.
  • Additional industry certifications are considered advantageous.
  • 1-2 years of experience managing mechanical, electrical, or fire protection systems within a data center setting.
  • Hands-on knowledge of MEP equipment such as CRAC/CRAH units, chilled water systems, pumps, cooling towers, UPS, and generators.
  • Strong expertise in thermal management, load calculations, and strategies to improve energy efficiency.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills coupled with effective communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and related tools.
  • Willingness to participate in shift rotations and standby duties, with applicable allowances provided.
