Job Description

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Daily Operations & Setup
  • Perform daily setup and teardown of workspace, including tables, chairs, and overhead LAN cabling within the data centre
  • Manage controlled access to secure equipment
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and compliance with Data Centre operational protocols
  • System Monitoring & Incident Management
  • Monitor and report application alarms and system alerts
  • Perform continuous health checks on video surveillance feeds, devices and system anomalies
  • Provide operational monitoring support from 0845hrs to 1830hrs (or extended hours when required).
  • Troubleshooting & Technical Support
  • Diagnose and resolve issues across devices, Common Services, Network and backend connectivity, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Secure Data Handling & Transfer
  • Transfer data strictly using LOA-approved portable storage devices (Portable Hard Disk)
  • Coordinate with external teams for Secure file uploads
  • Execution of CURL commands for deployment
  • System Maintenance & Patching
  • Perform patch management for RHEL and Windows systems across Virtual Machines (VMs):
  • Identify required patches
  • Transfer and apply updates
  • Validate system stability post-update
  • Cybersecurity & Hardening
  • Implement cybersecurity hardening based on:
  • Security compliance scan findings and MDL
  • Develop and execute, Hardening configurations, Testing and validation procedures, Rollback strategies
  • Firewall & Network Coordination
  • Verify firewall rule implementations across multiple domains
  • Coordinate with respective teams and stakeholders for network security alignment
  • Application System Management
  • Perform device onboarding into Application systems, including firewall access requests
  • Configure and manage new site creation, site metadata (GPS coordinates, organisation names, etc.), validate onboarding accuracy and system integration
  • Testing & Documentation
  • Support Batch Acceptance Testing (BAT) activities
  • Prepare and maintain, post-BAT reports and cybersecurity documentations
  • System configuration records
  • Virtual Machines & Endpoint Management
  • Maintain and monitor Virtual Machines (VMs) for performance, availability, security compliance
  • Configure and manage DC laptops, for GPO policy enforcement, and VAPT hardening compliance
  • Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. The role involves working with various technologies and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support organizational objectives. The System Engineer will play a key role in troubleshooting issues, managing system upgrades, and ensuring the seamless operation of systems and applications.
  • Responsible for technical and administration activities for IT infrastructure which will include deployment, configuring, maintenance, upgrading and migration of critical infrastructure such as servers, workstations and system/network equipment.
  • Support and recommending system IT policies, standard operating procedure and capacity planning for customers.
  • Perform proactively Level 2 technical support to troubleshooting on IT hardware and enterprise software to resolve and restore services on customers system/network IT infrastructure.
  • Work with the technical team, vendors or individually to deliver onsite job tasks, and projects in accordance to work scope.
  • Perform standard switch and router configuration, firewall configuration, standard hardening protocol according to industry standards.
  • Design and implement system architectures that meet the organization's needs and objectives. Develop and deploy new systems and applications, including servers, networks, and storage solutions. Configure and optimize system settings to ensure high performance and reliability.
  • Monitor and maintain system performance, including server uptime, network connectivity, and application functionality. Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups to ensure security and stability. Provide technical support and troubleshoot system issues to resolve problems promptly.
  • Implement and manage security measures to protect systems and data from unauthorized access, breaches, and other threats. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and organizational policies. Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and address potential risks.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations, procedures, and changes. Prepare and present reports on system performance, incidents, and maintenance activities. Document and communicate system issues, resolutions, and improvements to stakeholders.

Requirements for System Engineers:

  • Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field
  • Experience in dealing with Virtual Machines in Data Centres for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows Servers, including implementing cyber security measures such as OS Hardening.
  • Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge in Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server environments, Virtualization platforms, Network fundamentals (VLAN, routing, firewall policies)
  • Experience with CCTV / Video Management Systems (VMS), Cybersecurity hardening (VAPT, MDL, compliance frameworks), Firewall technologies, Familiarity with secure remote access BeyondTrust, Data transfer protocols and scripting (e.g., CURL)
  • Minimum 2–5 years experience in system engineering / infrastructure / network operations, data centre or secure environment operations, experience working with regulated environments is an advantage.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, ability to work in a controlled and compliance-driven environment , good coordination with multiple stakeholders, detail-oriented with strong documentation discipline
  • Certifications (Preferred), Relevant certifications such as:
  • CCNA / CCNP
  • RHCSA / RHCE
  • Experience with the following is an added value:
  • Security and Surveillance Systems
  • Frontend, Sensors, Private Network, VPN, IT & Cyber Security, Device Management Software, and Backend
  • Knowledge on Windows OS, Linux and FortiOS preferred
  • Have been involved in projects from inception to completion
  • Having own transportation or possess Class 3 license will be an advantage
  • CCNA/CCNP preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Independent and strong team player with good organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams effectively
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
