Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and versatile Product Design Manager. This role leads the entire product development lifecycle, from conceptual design and prototyping to ensuring a seamless transition into efficient, standardized manufacturing. The ideal candidate possesses strong design expertise, a deep understanding of production processes, and the leadership skills to bridge R&D with manufacturing. You will be responsible for creating innovative products and ensuring their designs are optimized for manufacturability, quality, and cost.

Key Responsibilities

Product Design & Development Leadership

• Lead and manage the product design and R&D process from initial concept through final design freeze and production launch.
• Summarize and apply R&D experiences to drive continuous improvement in product performance, cost, and manufacturability.
• Organize and oversee new product design, prototyping, performance testing, and design validation.
• Modify and finalize product designs based on customer requirements, technical feasibility, and production considerations.

Design for Manufacturing & Process Translation

• Act as the key bridge between Design and Production.​ Translate finalized design into executable, efficient, and standardized manufacturing processes and workflows.
• Collaborate closely with Production and Quality teams to analyze process capabilities, establish critical control points, and resolve design-related manufacturing challenges.
• Optimize product designs for manufacturability (DFM) to enhance production efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain quality.
• Develop and review essential process documentation (such as critical BOMs, assembly instructions, and basic process flow charts) to support production handoff.

Feasibility Analysis & Production Support

• Conduct comprehensive feasibility analyses, evaluating designs against customer requirements, actual manufacturing conditions, and cost targets.
• Create and approve detailed technical drawings and material lists.
• Assist the Sales and Quality teams in resolving advanced technical issues and customer complaints related to design and production.
• Follow up on sample production and initial production runs, documenting progress and implementing necessary design or process adjustments.

Technical Oversight & Problem-Solving

• Guide the sample-making and pre-production process, validating that performance indicators are met.
• Support the production team in troubleshooting and overcoming design-related manufacturing difficulties.
• Review and approve design engineers’ drawings, documentation, and cost estimations for accuracy and completeness.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in product R&D and mechanical design.
• Proven experience in collaborating with production/process teams to translate designs into manufacturable products.
• Experience with warehouse-related product design is a strong plus.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and design iteration.

Technical Skills:

• High proficiency in 2D and 3D design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Strong mechanical product development skills and knowledge of industry trends.
• Solid understanding of key manufacturing processes​ (e.g., welding, stamping, fabrication, coating) and principles of Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
• Familiarity with product development lifecycle management.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
• Outstanding collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with Design, Sales, Quality, and Production departments.
• Highly detail-oriented and organized in managing complex design and transition documentation.
• Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

Language Proficiency:

• English (preferred) for technical reporting and potential cross-regional coordination.
