Job Description

Responsibilities

We are looking for a motivated Junior R&D Mechanical Designer to support the development of mechanical systems, fixtures, assemblies, and prototype equipment for engineering and manufacturing projects.

This role is suitable for fresh graduates or candidates with 1–3 years of experience who are interested in mechanical design, prototyping, CAD drafting, fabrication processes, and hands-on engineering work.

The candidate will work closely with senior mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, suppliers, and fabrication teams across Malaysia and China.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings
  • Assist in the design and development of mechanical parts, fixtures, tooling, and machine assemblies
  • Prepare BOMs (Bill of Materials), drawing revisions, and documentation
  • Support prototype builds, assembly, and engineering validation activities
  • Coordinate with machine shops, fabrication vendors, and suppliers
  • Perform basic tolerance checks, fitment reviews, and mechanical measurements
  • Assist in troubleshooting mechanical issues during prototype and production stages
  • Maintain proper revision control and drawing organization
  • Support engineering change implementation and documentation updates
  • Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement activities
  • Ensure designs are practical for fabrication, assembly, and maintenance


Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Product Design, or related field
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply
  • 1–3 years of experience in mechanical design or product development is an advantage


Technical Skills

  • Basic proficiency in 3D CAD software such as:
  • SolidWorks
  • Autodesk Inventor
  • PTC Creo
  • or similar CAD tools
  • Ability to prepare 2D manufacturing drawings
  • Basic understanding of:
  • GD&T
  • machining and fabrication processes
  • sheet metal
  • standard mechanical components
  • tolerance and fit concepts
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and documentation work


Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with prototyping or workshop tools
  • Experience working with suppliers or fabrication vendors
  • Understanding of assembly processes and DFM (Design for Manufacturing)
  • Exposure to automation equipment, test fixtures, or semiconductor/ATE equipment is a plus
  • Knowledge of revision control and engineering documentation practices
