Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer with 1–3 years of experience in the automation industry to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing custom automated machinery, robotic cells, and mechanical systems. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, translating customer concepts and technical requirements into reliable, manufacturable, and safe mechanical solutions. The ideal candidate possesses strong problem-solving skills and is proficient in 3D CAD software for designing precision automation equipment.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Concept Development & 3D Mechanical Design

Mechanism Design:

Design and develop custom mechanical systems, including mechanisms, linkages, actuators, robotic end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), and precision fixtures/nestings for automation applications.

3D Modeling & Technical Drafting:

Create detailed 3D part and assembly models using CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or Creo. Prepare accurate 2D manufacturing drawings with appropriate tolerances and GD&T specifications.

Engineering Analysis & Component Sizing:

Perform calculations and select suitable mechanical components, including servo motors, gearboxes, pneumatic/hydraulic cylinders, linear motion systems, and bearings to meet design requirements.

2. Component Sourcing & Bill of Materials (BOM) Management

Component Selection:

Identify and source commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components from established automation suppliers to ensure functionality, cost-effectiveness, and compatibility.

BOM Management:

Develop and maintain accurate and structured Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support procurement, manufacturing, and assembly activities.

3. Testing, Debugging & Compliance

Design Review Participation:

Participate in internal and customer design reviews to validate concepts, improve designs, and ensure project requirements are achieved.

Risk Assessment & Safety Compliance:

Ensure all machine designs comply with applicable industrial safety standards and regulations related to machine guarding and operator safety.

Machine Testing & Commissioning:

Support machine assembly, debugging, testing, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) activities to ensure equipment performance prior to customer delivery.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 1–3 years of working experience in machine design or industrial automation.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or Creo.
  • Basic understanding of automation components, robotics, pneumatics, and motion systems.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and analytical problem-solving skills.
