Job Description

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly proactive and detail-oriented Part-Time Paralegal / Bookkeeper Support Specialist to assist with intellectual property (IP) tasks, billing operations, and account management.

This role combines paralegal responsibilities, bookkeeping support, and U.S. account handling, making it ideal for candidates with:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent English proficiency
  • The ability to work independently

The selected candidate will support tasks related to patent documentation, billing workflows, renewals, financial accuracy, and U.S. client account management, while contributing to process improvements and operational efficiency.

Core Responsibilities

  • Analyze invention disclosures and assist in drafting claims, drawings, and patent applications
  • Review office actions, prior art, and specifications to support response preparation
  • Conduct freedom-to-operate (FTO) searches and analyze patent portfolios
  • Prepare and file U.S. trademark applications
  • Perform patentability searches and prepare written analysis
  • Draft legal correspondence and documentation for patent prosecution
  • Support bookkeeping tasks, including:
  • Billing
  • Account updates
  • Financial documentation
  • Manage U.S. client accounts with high accuracy and attention to detail
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute ideas for operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with the supervising attorney and participate in workflow integration

Required Experience & Qualifications

Hard Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in:
  • Paralegal roles
  • Bookkeeping
  • Related administrative or legal positions
  • Paralegal background with the ability to transition into bookkeeping responsibilities
  • Experience handling U.S. accounts and working with U.S.-based clients
  • Knowledge of California law (Nice to have)
  • Strong English proficiency (B2+), with excellent writing and reading comprehension
