Job Description

Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities:


  • Develop and maintain robust backup and recovery frameworks to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
  • Collaborate effectively with developers, system administrators, and cross-functional IT teams to ensure seamless application-database integration.
  • Experienced in Disaster Recovery design and implementation using Oracle Data Guard, including cross-functional collaboration with infrastructure teams on upgrades, patching, and issue resolution.
  • Manage end-to-end database maintenance activities including patching, version upgrades, and routine housekeeping.
  • Proficient in Oracle, MS-SQL, and MySQL database administration, with hands-on experience managing large-scale database environments.
  • Produce and maintain thorough documentation covering database configurations, standard operating procedures, and best practices.
  • Monitor database performance, diagnose bottlenecks, and execute optimisation strategies to sustain system efficiency and reliability.
  • Provide 24x7 on-call production database support, ensuring high availability and rapid incident response.
  • Design and deploy database solutions across both cloud and on-premises environments, aligned to business and technical requirements.
  • Enforce database security policies encompassing access controls, encryption, and periodic security audits to safeguard sensitive data.


Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
  • 5 to 10 years of production database administration experience across Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL environments.
  • Proficient in Unix shell scripting and Oracle PL/SQL programming.
  • Knowledgeable in Oracle JDBC, ODP.Net, UCP, TAF, FCF, and MySQL Connectors.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) on Oracle 12c/19c is preferred.
  • Experienced in database installation and configuration across UNIX (Solaris & AIX), Linux, and Windows platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with High Availability setups including Oracle RAC/Data Guard, SQL Server Failover Cluster/AlwaysOn Availability Groups, and MySQL InnoDB Cluster/NDB Cluster.
  • Strong database performance tuning and troubleshooting capabilities, with the ability to identify and resolve bottlenecks at both server and database levels.
