Key Accountabilities

Cloud Engineer to support the implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of cloud and hybrid cloud environments for our clients.In this role, you will work closely with solution architects, senior engineers, and project teams to deploy approved cloud designs, support day-to-day operations, and develop your technical skills across modern cloud platforms. This position is suitable for both fresh graduates and engineers at the early stage of their cloud careers.

Job Summary

GCP Infrastructure Design

• Architect and implement scalable cloud solutions using Google Cloud services, including Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine, and Cloud Run, for optimal performance and cost efficiency
• Multi-Cloud Integration: Design hybrid and multi-cloud architectures using Anthos for consistent application deployment across Google Cloud and other environments
• Kubernetes Orchestration: Deploy and manage containerised applications using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) with advanced features like Autopilot, Istio service mesh, and workload identity
• Creating cloud architecture solutions that are strong, adaptable, and fulfil customer requirements.
• Choosing the right cloud services (compute engine, Kubernetes engine, cloud functions, etc.) to develop solutions.

Support Cloud Implementations

• Assist in deploying cloud and hybrid cloud solutions based on approved designs.
• Migrating complex, multi-tier applications to Cloud Platforms
• Participate in system testing, validation, and handover activities.
• Support project activities under guidance from senior engineers or architects.
• Utilising and overseeing cloud infrastructure through the use of GCP services.
• Utilising automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Google Cloud Deployment Manager can streamline the deployment process.
• Keeping a close eye on and maintaining cloud environments to ensure their reliability and efficiency.

Operate & Maintain Cloud Environments

• Monitor cloud resources to ensure stability, performance, and availability.
• Perform routine operational tasks, including configuration updates, backups, and basic troubleshooting.
• Escalate complex issues to senior team members when required.

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

• Provide first- and second-level support for cloud environments and related services.
• Assist in investigating incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing fixes.
• Support service requests and change activities in accordance with established procedures.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

• Maintain accurate documentation for deployed environments (as-built diagrams, configurations, runbooks).
• Contribute to internal knowledge bases and technical guides.
• Learn and adopt best practices for cloud operations and delivery.

Security & Best Practices

• Apply cloud security best practices in accordance with company policies and standards.
• Assist in implementing access controls, monitoring, and basic security configurations.
• Follow the organisation's compliance and governance requirements.

Collaboration & Learning

• Work closely with architects, senior engineers, and customer teams.
• Participate in technical discussions, training sessions, and continuous learning initiatives.
• Gradually take on more responsibility as skills and experience grow.
• Equivalent hands-on experience, certifications, labs, or real-world projects may be considered in lieu of formal years of experience.
• Collaborating closely with other teams (development, operations, product management) to ensure the successful delivery of integrated cloud solutions.
• Mentoring and imparting knowledge to junior engineers within the team

Job Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree, Diploma / Advanced Diploma, or equivalent in Computer Science / Information Technology. Professional Certificates are also valued.
• Certifications (Preferred/Required): While certifications in GCP, AWS, or Azure are a plus, successful candidates are expected to achieve GCP Professional Cloud Architect (PCA) and Cloud Engineer (CAE) certifications as a prerequisite for confirmation.
• Minimum of 3 years experience, with equivalent hands-on experience, certifications, labs, or real-world projects may be considered in lieu of formal years of relevant experience in a cloud-focused role.

Desired experience/exposure

• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively with both internal teams and external vendors/clients.
• Familiar with cloud and on-prem infra, network, middleware/databases and hardware
• Solid research skills with an emphasis on finding and utilizing information quickly to identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.
• A strong willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and evolving industry landscapes.

Competencies

Special skills required

• Strong understanding of cloud computing technologies and current industry trends, with familiarity in cloud and on-premise infrastructure, networking, middleware/databases, and hardware.
• Strong proficiency in Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and containerization technologies
• Experience with Google Cloud networking, including VPC, Cloud Load Balancing, and Cloud CDN
• Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code tools, preferably Terraform with GCP provider
• Experience with Google Cloud data services, including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Dataflow
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Go, or Shell for automation and tool development
• Knowledge of Google Cloud security best practices and IAM implementation
