ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly driven, resourceful, and commercially minded Procurement Manager to join our growing e-commerce and marketplace ecosystem.
This role is ideal for candidates with strong startup exposure who thrive in fast-paced and execution-focused environments. We are looking for someone who is not only strategic, but also hands-on — someone willing to roll up their sleeves, get involved in day-to-day operations, solve problems proactively, and contribute directly to the growth of the business.
The Procurement Manager will play a critical role in supplier sourcing, merchant onboarding, product procurement, pricing negotiations, category expansion, and overall commercial growth of the platform.
The ideal candidate should possess strong supplier sourcing capabilities, established industry networks, and the ability to independently identify and secure suppliers across multiple industries and product categories.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Procurement & Supplier Sourcing
- Source, identify, and onboard suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, and brand partners across various industries and product categories
- Develop and expand supplier networks to support the company’s growth and category expansion plans
- Leverage existing industry resources and connections to secure competitive supplier partnerships
- Conduct supplier evaluations, due diligence, and commercial assessments prior to onboarding
- Continuously identify new product opportunities and trending market demands
Commercial Negotiation & Pricing Management
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, rebates, MOQ, consignment terms, exclusivity arrangements, and commercial agreements with suppliers
- Ensure procurement costs, retail pricing, and margin structures remain competitive and commercially viable
- Maintain pricing governance and prevent unauthorized pricing inconsistencies or market dumping activities
- Work closely with management to optimize profitability while maintaining product competitiveness
E-Commerce & Marketplace Operations
- Coordinate with internal departments including operations, warehouse, logistics, marketing, design, finance, and tech teams to ensure smooth product onboarding and launches
- Ensure all product listings, pricing, descriptions, visuals, and inventory information are accurate and complete before going live
- Monitor product performance, stock movement, sell-through rates, and inventory levels
- Support campaign planning, promotional activities, livestream campaigns, bundles, and platform growth initiatives
- Assist in resolving operational, supplier, fulfillment, or inventory-related issues promptly
Supplier & Merchant Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with suppliers and business partners
- Serve as the key liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Ensure suppliers comply with company policies, product quality standards, pricing structures, and operational requirements
- Handle supplier disputes, negotiations, and issue resolution professionally and efficiently
- Maintain regular communication and engagement with suppliers to strengthen partnerships and improve collaboration
Strategic Growth & Business Expansion
- Support the expansion of new product categories and strategic supplier partnerships
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, pricing benchmarks, and customer demand
- Contribute ideas and recommendations to improve procurement processes, operational efficiency, and business scalability
- Assist management in developing commercial strategies to drive platform growth and revenue generation
- Participate actively in cross-functional projects and business development initiatives
Startup Environment & Hands-On Execution
- Operate effectively in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving priorities and business needs
- Be proactive, adaptable, and execution-focused with a strong sense of ownership
- Willing to be hands-on in both strategic planning and operational execution
- Support ad-hoc tasks, urgent operational matters, and business initiatives whenever required
- Work closely with leadership and contribute directly to company growth and expansion
REQUIREMENTS
- Mandarin speaking is compulsory (spoken and written) due to frequent communication with Mandarin-speaking suppliers, merchants, and stakeholders
- Minimum 2 – 4 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, category management, e-commerce, retail, or related commercial functions
- Prior experience working in a startup, high-growth company, or fast-paced business environment is highly preferred
- Strong supplier sourcing capabilities with the ability to independently develop procurement channels and business opportunities
- Existing supplier and industry network across multiple sectors is a strong advantage
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
- Strong commercial awareness with understanding of pricing structures, margins, and business profitability
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking under pressure
- Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and execution abilities
- Experience in e-commerce, marketplace platforms, retail, FMCG, beauty, health supplements, lifestyle products, consumer goods, or cross-border trade industries
- Experience handling multi-category procurement and sourcing
- Knowledge of inventory planning, stock control, and marketplace operations
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and procurement reporting tools
