The incumbent will partner closely with HR, Finance, IT, and executive stakeholders to ensure Workday enables scalable, compliant, and modern HR processes. He/she will guide system design decisions, lead functional delivery, govern change and ensure the long-term health and extensibility of the Workday tenant.

Job Responsibilities:

Strategy & Functional Architecture

  • Own the functional architecture and design of Workday Core HCM, including Compensation, Absence and Talent Management.
  • Serve as the functional authority on Workday business processes (BP), data structures, supervisory organisations and staffing models.
  • Translate HR strategy and workforce initiatives into scalable Workday configurations aligned with best practices.
  • Drive standardisation and minimise customisation to preserve system updateability and long-term sustainability.

Implementation & Delivery Leadership

  • Lead the full Workday implementation lifecycle from a functional perspective: Plan, Architect, Configure, Test and Deploy.
  • Facilitate design workshops, requirement-gathering sessions and solution walkthroughs with business stakeholders.
  • Ensure functional solutions are thoroughly tested, documented and aligned to business requirements.
  • Act as the primary functional escalation point during implementation and post-go-live phases.

Stakeholder & Executive Engagement

  • Partner with HR Business Partners, Finance, IT and C-suite stakeholders to align Workday capabilities with organisational priorities.
  • Translate complex HR requirements into pragmatic, fit-for-purpose Workday solutions.
  • Provide strong advisory guidance and manage stakeholder expectations, including constructive pushback on non-standard or high-risk customisations.
  • Present design decisions, trade-offs and roadmap recommendations to senior leadership.

Governance, Change & Data Management

  • Establish and enforce data governance standards, security roles and data integrity practices within Workday.
  • Define and manage change management protocols for Workday releases, enhancements and configuration updates.
  • Ensure technical documentations / module workbooks are kept up to date.
  • Oversee system release planning, regression testing and deployment of Workday bi-annual updates.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, audit requirements and regulatory standards.

Team Leadership & Vendor Management

  • Mentor and develop junior HRIS analysts and functional resources.
  • Coordinate with external implementation partners and vendors, ensuring quality, scope adherence and on-time delivery.
  • Review partner deliverables and ensure solutions align with internal standards and architectural principles.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and functional excellence within the HRIS team.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of HRIS experience, with at least 3 to 4 years of hands-on Workday implementation.
  • Minimum of two full end-to-end Workday implementations in a functional lead or product lead role.
  • Demonstrated experience owning Workday Core HCM in a complex or enterprise-scale environment.
  • Deep functional expertise in:
  • Workday Core HCM
  • Supervisory Organisations
  • Staffing Models
  • Business Process Framework
  • Workday HCM Certification (current or expired) is strongly preferred
  • Manage end‑to‑end project delivery implementation across environments — from preview through sandbox to production — ensuring seamless transitions, risk mitigation, and successful go‑live execution.
  • Oversee environment readiness and migration activities, including testing, validation and deployment planning.
  • Coordinate change management processes to minimize risk and disruption during implementation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align project milestones, resolve issues, and drive timely delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards and maintain documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to balance business needs with system constraints and best practices.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence at senior leadership and executive levels.

Proactive, solution-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
