Responsibilities

OVERVIEW

The Wine Sommelier is responsible for managing the wine program, recommending wines to guests, and ensuring an excellent dining experience. This role requires strong wine knowledge, good communication skills, and a passion for service.

THE JOBSCOPE

  • Curate, manage, and update the wine list in line with the restaurant concept.

  • Recommend and serve wines based on guests’ preferences and menu pairing.

  • Provide professional wine service following service standards.

  • Maintain proper storage, handling, and inventory of wines.

  • Conduct wine tastings and staff training to improve wine knowledge.

  • Work closely with the kitchen and service team on wine pairing.

  • Monitor stock levels, place orders, and control wine costs.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and alcohol regulations.

  • Handle guest feedback and resolve issues related to wine service.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as a Sommelier or in a similar role

  • Strong knowledge of wines

  • Certified Sommelier qualification is an added advantage

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
