Our client is a premier, automotive systems and components manufacturer supplying major global and local vehicle brands. The company is heavily investing in building up robust, in-house technical capabilities to optimize line processes and minimize external engineering dependencies.
This position is highly practical, active, and shopfloor-driven. Acting as the "Mechanical Doctor" for the assembly floor, the successful candidate will focus heavily on hands-on equipment fabrication, technical troubleshooting, and process stabilization.
the job.
- Design and physically fabricate custom in-house tools including functional testers (electrical/mechanical), assembly jigs, precision fixtures, pressing tools, and manufacturing aids to directly reduce reliance on external automation vendors.
- Independently diagnose and repair critical tester breakdowns, focusing heavily on electrical and control-related system faults. Provide rapid emergency response for specialized assembly machinery, specifically Heat Staking and Ultrasonic Welding equipment.
- Execute thorough Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on chronic, repeated mechanical failures to eliminate shopfloor variations, such as heat staking inconsistencies, ultrasonic weld defects, and jig/fixture misalignments.
- Read, map, and interpret complex electrical circuits, industrial sensors, and low-voltage control systems to actively support the enhancement and upgrade of internal automated tester mechanisms.
- Collaborate closely with Production and Quality teams to close out daily operational challenges. Actively train, mentor, and upskill local maintenance technicians and junior engineers to foster long-term internal technical capabilities.
the experience.
- A minimum of 5 to 8 years of direct, hands-on engineering experience within an automotive assembly, precision electronics, or high-volume discrete manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record in physical machinery troubleshooting, circuit repair, jig/fixture fabrication, and functional electrical wiring.
- Direct, practical familiarity with Heat Staking/Thermal Pressing and Ultrasonic Plastic Welding applications.
- Absolute capability to interpret technical electrical diagrams, trace faults independently, and execute hardware repairs without relying on original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) or external service vendors.
- Basic PLC logic familiarity (e.g., Siemens, Omron), experience in specialized automated tester development, or basic literacy in CAD software for structural jig concepts.
