Job Description

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the design of ship hulls and superstructures, following class and safety standards.
  • Interpret structure-related documents and drawings. Come up with structural material-take off and drawings for tender submission. Ensure conformance to contractual technical specifications, classification and statutory rules/regulations.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, specifications, and calculations, for internal use and regulatory compliance.
  • Utilise specialised software and tools for hydrodynamic analysis, stability assessment, structural analysis, and other relevant calculations.
  • Evaluate and ensure the structural integrity, stability, and sea keeping performance of vessels through rigorous analysis and testing.
  • Provide expertise in load distribution, weight estimation, and stability criteria to optimize vessel design.
  • Choose appropriate materials for vessel construction based on factors such as strength, corrosion resistance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Liaise with production team to ensure accurate implementation of design specifications during the construction process.
  • Participate in tests and trials, where required.
  • Perform any other tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance to relevant government regulations and company’s quality, safety, health and environmental(QSHE) policies, practices and procedures at all times.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience working in a marine/offshore industry and a Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or Marine or related engineering discipline or minimum 10 years working in a Marine/Offshore industry with some engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with Marine & Offshore rules, regulations and requirements.
  • Proficient in AutoCad with the ability to produce detailed production engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency in Intergraph or any related 3D CAD software knowledge is required.
  • Experience in basic design engineering for OSVs like Workboats, PSVs and AHTS would be advantageous.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Good communication skills, meticulous, resourceful, able to multi-task.
  • A team player with the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
