Job Description

Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and quality-driven individual to join the Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory at the Singapore General Hospital.

The main responsibilities include (but not limited to the following):

  • Perform routine or complex laboratory investigations on biological specimens using a wide range of specialized equipment according to established standard operating procedures and quality standards.
  • Ensure accurate, reliable, and timely reporting of laboratory results to support clinical decision-making
  • Apply scientific knowledge and technical expertise skills to support and troubleshoot analytical, instrument, and laboratory workflow issues.
  • Support, maintain and optimise Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), middleware, and analyser interfacing to ensure reliable and efficient laboratory operations
  • Ensure and audit the accuracy, integrity, and timely flow of laboratory data across systems, including result transmission, autoverification workflows, and interface monitoring
  • Troubleshoot system, interface, and analyser connectivity issues, working closely with vendors and internal IT teams to resolve incidents and minimise downtime
  • Assist in the configuration, testing, and maintenance of laboratory systems, including test builds, reference ranges, rules, and/or workflow parameters
  • Participate in system validation, user acceptance testing (UAT), and implementation of new laboratory IT solutions and enhancements
  • Support automation and digital workflow initiatives by maintaining system configurations and ensuring alignment between instruments, middleware, and LIS
  • Provide training and day-to-day support to laboratory staff on LIS, middleware, and digital workflows
  • Support data extraction, reporting, and dashboard development to facilitate operational monitoring, audit requirements, and quality assurance activities


Job requirements

  • Degree in Biomedical Science, Life Sciences or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in clinical laboratories. Significant time spent in laboratory informatics or digital workflows is preferred.
  • Skills in data analytics and digital tools, such as Robotic Process Automation, Python, SQL, will be an advantage.
  • Possesses positive work attitude and is responsible, meticulous, and efficient
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively, with capability to take on leadership responsibilities when required
  • Possesses good interpersonal and communication skills to engage stakeholders effectively
