Job Description

Responsibilities

We are seeking a passionate Commis to assist in the culinary operations of our independent restaurant with a seating capacity of 40 guests. The candidate should have a basic knowledge of Local and Asian cuisines, and has a basic knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Operations & Cooking

  • Prepare mis-en-place for the next meal period.
  • Perform basic cooking at the supervision of the Head Chef or Chef-De-Partie.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring that all kitchen equipment and utensils are properly cleaned and stored after use..
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, ensuring that all food items are store  correctly and that the kitchen environment is safe and hygienic.

Inventory & Procurement

  • Receive and unpack deliveries, check the quality of ingredients, and  ensuring that stock levels are maintained. 
  • Assist in rotating stock to minimize waste.

Compliance & Hygiene

  • Ensure strict adherence to Singapore Food Agency (SFA) hygiene and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen environment.

Culinary Competency

  • Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and food preparation methods. Familiarity      with kitchen equipment and tools is advantageous.
  • Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain high standards of food presentation.
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure, especially during busy service periods.

Professionalism & Customer Focus

  • Uphold a professional image when interacting with associates and customers.

Requirements

  • Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are an advantage.
  • Food Hygiene certification is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge in cooking techniques.
  • Ability to work in shifts, including weekends and public holidays
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and handle pre-opening challenges.
  • Knowledge of hygiene and food safety regulations and compliance standards.
