Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Lead to lead the design and delivery of enterprise Java applications, providing hands-on guidance across architecture, development, integration, and release activities. This role plays a key part in driving development execution, shaping solution design, and working closely with business stakeholders and offshore delivery teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on Java expertise with leadership capability, technical design ownership, and the ability to operate across the full software delivery lifecycle in structured enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

Application Delivery and Leadership

• Lead and coordinate application development activities across onshore and offshore teams
• Plan, assign, and manage development tasks to ensure delivery milestones are met
• Provide regular progress updates and risk visibility to project leadership

Business Engagement and Solution Design

• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand functional requirements and expectations
• Translate business needs into high-level and detailed technical designs
• Review and validate solution approaches to ensure alignment with business objectives

Technical Ownership and Quality Assurance

• Take ownership of technical issue resolution including analysis, remediation, testing, and deployment coordination
• Review development deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to standards
• Drive strong engineering discipline and quality-focused delivery practices

Change and Release Management

• Support change requests by assessing impact and defining appropriate implementation strategies
• Coordinate release activities and ensure smooth deployment with minimal disruption
• Provide post-implementation support for production issues, clarifications, and system inquiries

Architecture and Proposal Support

• Contribute to technical architecture design and review activities
• Support preparation of technical inputs for proposals and solution documents

Requirements

Experience and Technical Expertise

• Minimum 5 years of experience in enterprise application development
• Strong hands-on development experience using Java
• Proven experience leading or guiding development teams
• Solid exposure to the full software development lifecycle using structured delivery methodologies
• Experience working with application servers such as WebSphere or JBoss

Integration and Backend Knowledge

• Strong experience working with XML-based integrations
• Hands-on knowledge of Java web services, including SOAP and REST
• Ability to interpret and design WSDL structures
• Working knowledge of build and dependency management tools such as Maven or Ant
• Practical experience accessing and validating data using Oracle databases and SQL tools

Professional Competencies

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a delivery-driven environment
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience working with distributed or offshore delivery teams
• High standards for code quality, documentation, and delivery outcomes

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in banking or financial services projects
• Familiarity with core banking or enterprise financial systems
• Exposure to greenfield or from-scratch application development
• Experience working with Japanese organizations or stakeholders
• Knowledge of IT security standards, governance, and compliance
• Experience with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) or enterprise integration patterns
• Exposure to ESB technologies such as MuleSoft or similar platforms
• Deeper experience with Oracle database objects including stored procedures and packages
